Elder Scroll lore/story info

I've never given much attention to the lore of the games I've played.   Looking back, there were times my friends who followed the lore got much more out of an instance/event because they were surprised, shocked, or elated by some happening that involved lore.  I think I missed the boat and would like to remedy that.

Are there any recommends for some well-written quick reads that will relate the history/lore of the ESO era of the online game (and perhaps what occurred before) or some videos?

I am also considering pulling off some cobwebs and getting back into role play.  A good foundation in the history/lore would help to portray a credible ESO character.

I'm literally counting the days until launch!  Can't wait!

The lore of a game is what RPG is all about. Some folks don't write long stories to entertain or talk funny and play act in game but, knowing why you are where you are and who you are, adds a depth to the experience that is the essence of what the game is all about. So, even if it's only in your private thoughts that you "Roll Play", a basic knowledge of the backstory, "Lore" makes it all the more real and exciting!

And yes I totally agree with Alana the You Tube videos by Shoddy Cast are some of the "best" to be had on the "Lore of ESO!

P.S. Remember ESO is set in the 2nd era and the videos are about the whole Elder Scrolls story that started in 1993, 20 years ago!

What I have been doing is watching the videos then googling topics, words, groups in the wiki.

I think you will find after getting into the lore it's very similar to Game of Thrones.  After going through the wiki and the videos you will find yourself going "oh yes..this reminds me of X."  Knowing you as I do, you will pick up on the lore really quick!

I concur that the Elder Scrolls Lore Series are completely worth listening to.  I've been just listening to them in the car or while working and found them very entertaining - as well as increasing excitement for the start of ESO ;)
