Guild bank, what can and should we deposit?

Crafting style materials would be nice to share for common good(there are quite a bit of them that I find that don't fit the styles I want). Recipes would be nice for those that want to start provisioning for alt or just have bad luck with random number generators :P . I plan to  throw in stuff along the guidelines, especially if they are materials that I won't be using or fall out the ranks I am not leveling or providing supplies for.

This is a good question.

Also, Do we get vault point for stashing stuff or just getting the harm fuzzy feeling of being helpful is enough reward? :B

I'll wait for Fog to give the official response but my suggestion is put nothing but rares in there if you wish to share them.  And usually no family credit is given for placing in the vault since it is really hard to keep track of who puts what in and takes what out.

The Family Marketplace will be up and running shortly after launch and this is where you should trade materials for family vault credit.

Unfortunately there seems to be a need for people to place anything form bait to rares in the vault at the moment.  If it was a rare bait - I could see that, but we as a family,  are placing way to much junk in the vault during these betas.   If this keeps up we will have to take stuff out and sell it - giving the money back to Fog to buy stuff for family events (such as siege equipment for AvA).

You should really think about breaking down the stuff you found and using it to fill orders made by the crafters for cloth, wood, ingots - as well as the other odds and ends you get from the deconstruct - such as pitch, honing stones, and hemming as well as the gems for enhancements.   Believe me when I say that pitch, honing stones, and hemming will be in great demand since it is seldom you get it from a deconstruct.   Or you might find crafter's willing to buy the greens for their own deconstructing.

Hey there,  I figured these questions would pop up soon enough. A few things about guild banks and the games we play.

A: They are very hard to keep track of and usually things disappear before we notice them appear. We do not reward contribution for anything placed in the bank.

B: The guild bank will be used as a community treasure chest. Please note anything placed in there will be accessible for all members and may vanish suddenly.

C: We do ask that people only place in there what they think others will need and only take that which you will use.

D: We strictly prohibit the use of family resources for personal financial gain. Anyone caught taking bulk items and flipping them for profit will be banished from the family.

Bottom line: If it goes in, it will come out, we often times wont know who put what or who took what so be on your honor and be respectful to others. If you're not going to use something don't take it.

Thanks for the replies :)  I am breaking most of my stuff down(and saving upgrade materials), but with provisioning the secondary ingredients and lower rank foodstuffs will fall out of the use relatively swiftly, while still retaining use for alts. Currently merchants don't pour money on you from selling them food so rather than clogging my own bank before the marketplace I could simply donate and put them forth(I figured sharing inside the family doesn't hurt :D ) .

I was aware that the guild bank would be hard to track, as I have seen it in Guild Wars 2 and some other games.  Also its a reason to ask for some general guidelines(because I am sure elders would not prefer to spend most of their gaming time up-keeping and selling things from the bank ). I don't like seeing 500 used baits in varying stack sizes or having bit of this and that on various junk items.

I tend to loot everything (every sack, crate, bag, barrel, desk, nightstand, wardrove, chest, heavy bag, water skin, trunk, urns and vases) shall be looted by my swift grabby paws!

I will share my hoard of shinies and crafting materials with the family upon release :3

I was kind of operating on the "take a penny, leave a penny" rule. I tried to only take the things I thought I really needed, and left some stuff that I couldn't use, such as crafting mats for styles I don't have.

Hope that was alright.

well I think most of the useful stackable items should be ok by default?

Stackable items are fine, but do the bank a favor and help keep things stacked.  Currently if you deposit a small stack of 5 Flint and there's 63 Flint in the bank, it won't stack and there will be two separate stacks of 63 and 5 vice one stack of 68.  If you notice duplicate stacks in the guild bank, you can loot them, stack them and put them back.

So basicly if it's something you would sell back to a vendor for "pennies on the dollar" throw it in the guild bank if you don't need the funds.

If we are building up items for raids how will we be handling that?

That will likely fall under the marketplace system. At launch members will be able to request materials only until I get the new engine built to handle eso requests. The vaults will be open to everyone so I would not recommend putting anything of significant value in it. We will likely be vault raided regularly so it's best not to put anything in there that you would be heartbroken if someone stole it. Vault Raiders are removed from the family when found but in todays day in age there's an abundance of less ethical people. Just the way the world is.

I think this is one of the instances in which having characters linked to an account so noticeably is nice. Once someone does raid the vault, you can ban them by account name, rather than having to track down each alt like in some games. Although to be honest, I've noticed far less of that in this guild than any other I have ever been in.

It may be a nice idea to start a thread with who is (seriously) leveling which crafting skills?  That way, you can always contact someone in the family and offer to trade or donate mats for their specific crafting area(s).

As Radgasken mentions - please stack items.  I spent way too much time in beta taking out 5 stacks of various sizes of one item and stacking them together then depositing them back into the back to consolidate space. The first thing to do when wanting to deposit items in the bank is click on "name" at the top of the list in the bank vault - it will then alphabetize all the items - scroll down until you see the item you wish to deposit - then remove and stack - or just deposit if none of that particular item is there.

I beg you all not to deposit worthless items - especially bait.   You might think someone else can use it - but bait is very common and can even be obtained from killing the small critters (rats, snakes, squirrels, etc) that run around.   If someone is into fishing - they will know all about bait.

Crafting materials are a little tougher to decline since there will be such a need for them - but you really should hold on to them and use them to barter with through the family marketplace.  Supplying the crafters with materials is a great way to build up market place points so that you can get things in the future.  Just watch the marketplace and see what our crafters are requesting.   I will be using this extensively since I don't like to craft and I will put points into the crafting lines for "eagle" eye - or whatever it is called - to notice resources better.  But hopefully I won't need to craft anything for myself after the starter area.

Maybe we could use the website as a place to request crafting mats. Then mail it to the person in game.
