Greetings, salutations, and Merry Meet. This is one of them Introduction Threads, as I am new to this family, and wanted to introduce myself. I was searching for a new home for Eldar Scrolls Online. I have been recieving beta invites for a few months now, but I simply let my 10 year old son use that account. I had been debating whether or not to play the game, especially after they had announced the Subscription Fee. I would have rather it been a Buy To play game, with no monthly overhead, but It is was it is. Since I was debating it, to be honest I wasn't sure I wanted to feel obligated to dedicate time to a game as I tend to feel with Subscription games. That being said, this past beta invite, I had gotten the extra beta key, so i decided to use it on my primary gaming email, as the other invites I was receiving on another email, and since I was going to let my son use that account, I created a second account to give the game a try. Unfortunately I didn't get to group up with my son this weekend, partially due to him having issues with the installer again, and I was grouping with some other guys I knew or spending alot of time just figuring out the crafting system instead of actually leveling.
Either way, after the weekend was over, i was hooked. To be honest I haven't enjoyed a game so much like that in quite a while. My last major game to try was Guild Wars 2, and I wasn't really into it especially after my first dungeon run. For some reason, spending two hours Plus in a lvl 30 dungeon and watching a single run tear up a group of people who had been playing games together for around a year, was disheartening. The stress of the group got several people upset at each other, and that was because their was no real agro management system in place. Not really are fault, but considering this was PVE, I really had no interest in a game that was more pvp focused. I also leveled extremely fast through just simply gathering and crafting, and when you hit lvl 80 in like 3 weeks of playing 1.5-2 hours a night, it just felt too fast paced for my taste.
Anyways, I have enjoyed morrowind and skyrim, I loved the worlds, and simply just running around exploring and running into little things. I got to experience that part again, as it felt alot like skyrim, only with other people, even if their was almost an overcrowded feel and tons of kill leeches running around everywhere. Nothing like going through a place, attackign some mob to find some guy constantly assisting you on your kills, one right after another and taking your urns. Anyways, that seemed to be the only downside during the whole weekend, is that at times, it felt too crowded everywhere. I really dove right intothe crafting, gathering everything I could, trying almost all the professions, trying to figure out how to do it, where to find stuff, as well as figuring out some hidden things in the world and simply enjoying the amazing landscape. After my fun in Tamriel, Monday morning i started searching for a place to call home.
That search is always a long search, however this time it was quite easy. Mostly because well, I am also still a member of SOLA, a christian guild, however because of their faction choice I wasn't going to go with them. They went daggerfall covenant, and I have a partial liking to the Norn and Dunmer. I would gladly play a dwemer if they would let me, simply because I play a dwarf in any game. The bretons and redguard are appealing and orcs are ok, i Just had my heart set on ebonheart pact. Although I will most likely have an imperial and a norn to start with my third character one day being a dunmer. Anyways, this Guild name popped up in my search yesterday, and I was drawn to it because of the name. it was Gaelic, and my irish heritage and love of all things celtic called me towards it. However My search was cut short yesterday because I was still uncertain and I had school work to deal with.
This morning, I was browsing the SOLA sight and in one of their threads about the factions, they Mentioned this Guild, and reminded me they were going ebonheart. They talked about how great the people were and how great the community was, as they had encountered members in both Rift and in Guild Wars2.
So I followed the link, and did some research, and well, here I am. This place just feels like the right fit. Active players, people in all time zones because my play schedule is pretty chaotic and random. Their was also the fact that it is a place that my son could be welcomed at. I will get him to register here in the coming weeks, because well we are going to both be playing ESO. I am still working on getting him use to being apart of a guild, and refining his MMO ettiquette and skills. I am also looking at playing a game with my son (well another one as we played STO together alot this past year, and a few other online games that neither of us were really deeply into).
Anyways, its a long introduction but I figured, might as well get more upfront so you can get to know me and why I am here.
As for me, well I will be casually playing this as often as I can, as I have a hectic schedule. i work two days a week as a stocker at a dollar General, and I am a full time student trying to get my degree in Illustration. I also have a wonderful wife of 14 years, and 4 kids together (who I am trying to turn into gamers but that is beside the point). My two oldest have played games with me in the past, sadly I could not get my oldest interested in this game, as he is more into science fiction games than fantasy ones (at times that is). Also with my kids come activites, like dance for my daughter, band for my oldest, soccer for my middle two boys. Needless to say, its quite a hectic schedule, but I do make the effort to find time to play video games, and other table top games as well (though not as often as I would like).
Well that is me. As for when the game launches, i plan to have an Imperial Dragon Knight built around tanking, and a Norn Templar built around healing. I will probably be playing my templar more when I group with my son, while the dragon knight will probably be my main. Both will be worked often as I am also planning to split the crafting between the two, probably going with armorsmith, enchanting, and potions on my dragon knight, and clothing and woodworking on my templar. I haven't really been fond of fishing and provisioning in any game, but I may dabble in those in time.
Well thats me, time to get back to some art assignments, was just taking the break to register and introduce myself. Oh yeah, I tend to go by Syphon in recent years, Jemini as well in other games. You can call me either, or just simply Jason.
