Time to upgrade the PC...

As an MMO gamer I feel I live rather sheltered from most game releases, and thus from newer PC hardware requirements to run the latest released eye candy. On top of that, the most recently released MMO I play is Rift so yeah, back to the sheltered comment.

During beta play with ESO I noticed small things here and there that hinted performance issues but I was always playing on stress-test weekends so they were dismissed as latency/server load. It wasn't till I joined in AvA did the realization come to light that maybe it's me :P . After doing some research, I was pleased to see that my last PC build was in 2008...so I'm glad it lasted me this long but it almost confirmed that I'll need to upgrade.

I mean, it was bad; I could see siege equipment but and firing animations, but no projectiles. Any players were just health bars running around . I even encountered a small skirmish (10 players) and there would be delays in ability use and targeting was impossible.

I'm pretty confident in my knowledge of PC hardware so I know I need to aim for CPU as the prime component of the upgrade but I'd like to ask what others have experienced concerning AvA and performance issues (if any). If you wouldn't mind replying with your performance experience and a few PC specs (Processor, RAM and vid card), I'd like to get some direction on where to land my upgrade.

Say what you will about Alienware, but let me tell you this. After decades of building my own rigs, I have been alien abducted. About 4 years ago a young, new, brilliant cat took over desktop engineering. And it has been a whole new alien world. I can not for the same money build a rig that has the same equipment, hassle-free warranty and customer service. Not to mention the brilliant equipment choices, design and engineering inside the case for the same price AND not have to build it myself. Of course when I was young BUILDING it was half the fun, now I'm old and grumpy. I am a competitive FPS/MLG gamer and now have 4 Alienware computers that I love. Totally my opinion of course, but opinions are what you asked for =). Here is the new one Aurora R4 being delivered to me today as a matter of fact.
