Guild in other factions

I know our main faction is going to be EH and we are encouraged to try all three, but do we know if guilds can span other factions or how communication works? For example, if we have people in all three factions will they all be able to participate in guild chat or even talk to each other? 

I don't know for certain how it works. I believe guild invites are being account based, not character based.

However, we still have RC so we can communicate outside of the confines of a game. Plus, I'm certain someone would be happy to set something up for family members in the other two factions. My brothers want to go Daggerfall, so I will be split between playing with GSCH on EH and them on DC. But if we have a smallish, saighdear thing set up in the other two factions, that'd be awesome. I believe fog has mentioned we won't have any official presence in the other factions, in order to avoid the "GSCH is cheating and sharing info cross-faction" kind of stuff.

IMO, all the guild info I've heard is rather confusing. I'm not new to MMO's but I see the multiple guild membership as pulling players in multiple and some times opposing directions.

I have the perspective that a guild might have a focus but will always have other facets in which it's members can participate in the game.

On that note, I've heard it mentioned that there's going to be a 300 guild member limitation, so i see that being the reason for multiple guild memberships (as in a single group of players having diff guilds to concentrate on certain aspects of the game; crafting, pve, pvp and such).

I primarily have played WoW, so I'm used to Hoard and Alliance being separated at least on the same server. Recently they removed that restriction and that boggled my mind. I liked the separation of faction, I made the idea of a faction more 'real' to me. But on the same hand Ragmar, I feel your pain. If I can't convince any friends to join EP then I guess I'll see them on the other end of my blade :P

The limit is not 300. Guilds are cross faction. You can't join the same campaign with opposing faction characters. 

That means no AvA and no PvP fighting against GSCH, right?

Yup. We wont be fighting ourselves.

I think that's right, Kitty. I think I saw in a devspeak somewhere, or read in an interview, that you can't join a specific campaign with characters of opposing factions, so if Gaiscioch was running in one campaign that you were involved in, you couldn't have an Aldmeri alt also in that campaign. I think that's how it goes, anyway, I don't know 100%, information is scarce!!

Considering that video is from august, and fog is very knowledgeable about where we launch into for games, I am more likely to believe it is over 300:) We have a long list of things we measure for a game before we launch into them. We will be ok, although a friendly duel with fog might be fun:P

Landrix, The GUILD CAP is NOT 300. That developer misspoke. She's not even involved with such things. The day that video went live I had a conference call with Zeni and confirmed that was not the case. I can tell you with 100% certainty that, that video is misinformed and the guild cap will not be 300.

Fog, you mentioned that guilds are cross faction, but does that mean Gaiscioch will be cross faction? I currently lean towards the Aldmeri Dominion. While I realize that I wouldn't be able to do campaigns (which to my understanding is the massive PVP in Cyrodiil) against other guild members will there at least be a global guild chat we all share (from what we know that's not under NDA)? Would it be correct to assume that factions are cut off from each other (no grouping, no questing together, etc)? Depending on how "cut off" from the guild I would be, I may just suck it up and roll a EP character first. 

You can be in the same guild, chat with other members but the PvE world's are completely separate. You can't group with opposing factions. You also can't join the same campaign with characters from other factions. Thus if you choose to play on a non - ebonheart faction the main family events will be out of your reach and you won't be able to group with anyone outside your faction. That said it is likely that there will be others that are of like minds and play in those factions as well. I personally plan to try to have 1 in each faction just to see the world from all sides. In the end it's entirely up to you where you want to play. But the Eldership and I will be focused on running the ebonheart side.

If you are in a guild with people in one of the other alliances that you are not in, can you group with them to do instances and such?  @Aillorian

This is something you can’t do right now, but I believe we would like to enable this for the future.

So perhaps someday we'll be able to group up cross faction.
