Seriously? I've gotta watch this
Totally hoping they will bring it to the PS3 as well since I've yet to find a reason that is justifiable to shell out another 600 for a new console.
Best reason ever Soren... ps4 is only 399
That's it? I figured sony would at least match xbox for release prices. My faith in them has been restored slightly =p Now if PS4 and PC players could play cross platform like portal... I'd be all over that PS4 in a heartbeat lol
Have they said anything about PC version having its own UI?
Well, I *WAS* psyched about ESO ever since I went to PAX East, but with the announcement that they are making the game for PC, XBO, and PS4 ... I *REFUSE* to buy/play it. Every single MMO that has ever been done for a console game has stunk. It's not any fault of Microsoft, Sony, or even Bethesda (other than making the choice to go to console), it's just the simple fact that you can't make a GOOD MMO without a keyboard and only a game pad.

@Daermoon Tell me that after you've tried Final Fantasy XIV: ARR on the PS3.
I wouldnt judge a companies ability to make a console version of thier mmo based on the crap that came before. I have played eso and I can tell you its fun. Your going to make a huge mistake ruling this one out because they make a console version too. I mean elder scrolls has been a console hit since morrowind. It would be weird for them not to have a console version.
will console players be integrated into the same environment as the pc/mac player or will it be separate like Defiance?
No. It's being released for XBOX One. Microsoft wont license to a game that allows players to play with other players on another system. You Can do Win to XBOX one, or Win to PS4, But you can't build a game that goes Win to XBOX to PS4. If they want their license to publish on XBOX One they can't even allow WIN and PS4 to play together. Same hangup Defiance, Age of Conan, DC Universe, and Final Fantasy have run into. Thats why FF moved PS3/PS4/WIN only. Same with DC Universe. AOC just scrubbed the whole idea. Definacne ended up being forced to separate their player base. DUST went exclusive PS4 for the same reason.
Microsoft will never allow a game to exist on their system that can be cross platform to another console.

I'm super excited for the possibilities of both this game and FF: ARR on the PS4. I'll have to get one very shortly into launch if not at launch. Especially at only $399. Sony is making the right decision with that price, hands down. ESO continues to look more and more entertaining though. Can't wait.
So Fog, we'll see a computer based PC/Mac environment and two different consoles sony and Xbox? Three in all?
Another note about the PS4 version. The PS4 uses x86 architecture so transitioning the game from PC to PS4 is super easy. ESO will be doing interviews today revealing more about their product today.
Yes Martong, a Superserver for PC/MAC, PS4, and XBOX1

The more I hear about the Xbox One the deeper, it seems, they dig their own grave. That's what it looks like to me anyway. Can't wait to play Watch Dogs on the Ps4 though
If we go into ESO as a another chapter in the family, will we be staying in PC or branching into a console? Because I would prefer to stay on my PC and cannot afford a $399 price tag for anything right now as I am saving up to move in the next year. The only thing I would remotely consider buying is a playstation cause I have always gone with their company.
^^ as with Jessica, i play games on my PC. hope there's a PC family branch of ESO. i can't wait for the release!
I would imagine that the family would go PC based since I would think it's safe to hazard a guess that most of us are PC gamers. Consoles would/could probably form a Saighdear for PS/XBOX respectively if the interest is there. I know if ESO hits PS3 I'll get it as well as on PC since I own every Elderscrolls game out there on both PC and PS.
If it turns into a chapter it will be on PC/MAC. I don't see my living room enough to warrant playing an MMO there.
While I'm super excited about this game the Spring 2014 release date disappointed me some what.
I'm playing it on PC. Strong emphasis on the period. I have a hard enough time playing Defiance on my PS3, as it is. I think that going multi-platform is a mistake for any MMO, but especially this one. If one of your strongest design points is having a seamless, single server world, then making THREE of them defeats the ... well, I think folks get where I am going with that. The release date sounds about right, I think that's around what Fog and I both predicted.
Sekkerhund, * Consoles made Elder Scrolls what it is today. It would be a MASSIVE oversight if they were to ignore the community that made them who they are. * Microsoft will not license a product that is cross platform friendly UNLESS it is EXCLUSIVE to the XBOX / PC market. If the company has a shared server between PC and PS4 their application to distribute on the XBOX get's denied. That is why Defiance is not single server like it was designed to be. This straight from the EP's mouth. This has been a long standing problem MMO developers face. This is why DCU, FFXIV, FreeRealms, Only Distribute to PS3 and Windows. Sony allows cross platform server sharing. * Lastly, If ESO COULD get licensed for XBOX ONE and cross platform share they would. But that's not in the cards if they want to reach their full market.
Congrats to those who plan on playing ESO on the PS4 platform. I myself will most likely not be getting a PS4. Don't get me wrong it's more then a cheap enough price tag for the platform. Simply put I'm just not at all impressed by it. Same with Xbox 1. However that is a discussion for another thread and there for I wont dwell into it here. However again to those who are very excited about this news, congrats. :) Quote Foghladha; "If it turns into a chapter it will be on PC/MAC." Good to know.
Well - if it releases in April that will be a great B-day present for Fog and me :)
... and I really believe an MMO needs to be on the PC and quite happy that as a family that is where we'll be. If, in fact, it becomes a branch for us.
