I have been waiting for someone to put into words the ties that bind DAOC and ESO. Take a read...it's worth your while:

Favorite quote from that article: "Yo dawg, I heard you like PvP and dungeons, so we put some PvP in your dungeons so you can PvP while you dungeon."
Ewww, PVP and dungeons.....keep the dungeons pve imo!
Admittedly, training mobs onto enemy players, telling your healers not to heal, and making your hunter feign death would be pretty funny....oh no wait for a minute there I was outside Blackwing Lair....zomg timewarp!!!

I think a PvP dungeon sounds awesome. As a former DAoC player, I'm very excited to see the features ESO is adopting from it so far.
open world dungeons are something I have missed for years , started gaming with EQ in 99 and all dungeons were open world back then including raid mobs . In DAOC each realm had it`s own lands to lvl in from lvl 1 - 50 each with it`s own dungeons all which were pvp free so strickly pve , however they also had darkness falls that was a pvp dung that connected to each faction area that were pvp able , as well as pvp openworld dungeons in the pvp area`s. So if you didn`t want to lvl in a open pvp able dung you could stay in a safe pve one , but the risk vs rewards for lvling in a pvp area made it worth the risk as you got 3 times the exp , cash, better loot etc . I`ve been waiting for a game to capture the fun of DAOC and the fun of skill based lvling system for years sadly every game that tries to copy DAOC system even tho it may be simlar , still misses the mark . And skill based lvling system like in ultima online , old school SWG and all of the Elder scroll games is far better then lame class , level system like most games are .
DAoC didn't seem to have the culling issues that GW2 is experiencing. As long as ESO manages to not have culling issues, too, it should be like old times.
I seem to recall WAR being called the spiritual successor to DAOC too... I hope they pull it off cause WAR sure failed.
Warhammer while it was fun and it was made by the same company that created DAOC the devs that created DAOC were long gone before warhammer . While it did have some of the same elements it wasn`t the same , at launch you could only place siege on siege pads and no where else you could only attack the main keep gate and not walls etc like in DAOC . was only two sided which was fail they should have made it 3 sided and had order vs dest vs skaven or undead or lizardmen etc , making it 2 sided was doomed to fail as with two sides lame people will always leave the losing side to play on the winning side thus killing the game , like it happened in war . creating ther best weps in the game tied to grinding scenarios was fail as well , since the only place you could get the insingas and crest for the weapons were in scenarios and the amount needed was stupid high it basicly removed over 50 % of the player base out of RVR and into instances grinding tokens for the weapon . A RVR game kinda needs people out in the RVR areas to do well when over half the people are grinding in instances it kills the main RVR aspect of the game . Bad balance early on , the devs gave the order mirror classes a bit more ultilty and ablities to make them more appealing as they were afraid that not enough people would play order , as dest classes looked better ,etc not to mention plagued with bugs, I hope they have the abilty to have a bard /skald type class in eso as i`m shooting for a Thane type or a bard type , or either a Shadowknight/pally or a fantic Witch hunter
I am in the middle of the article but the section on public dungeons in pvp areas lead my meandering mind to think of Rift's Raid Rifts on the pvp servers. I started playing on Sunrest which was a pvp-rp server and Raid Rifts were legitimate undertakings (not at all like the watered down experience that they were on Faeblight). You not only had to recruit the bodies necessary to complete the Rift but also organize forces of quick responders if any of the opposing faction to show their faces. Sometimes you would get another raid group come to destroy yours or simply do enough to ensure that you could not complete each stage of the rift or you would get small groups that would try and take out the healers. Sure, it could be frustrating when you just wanted to complete the objective and/or were grinding for something but more often than not it was a lot of fun regardless of whether you lost or won. I am looking forward to these public dungeons and the added danger of finding and slaying other players in them.
Thank you for the post!! I love it I cannot wait!!!! I so hope Gaiscioch has a huge presence in this game I want to hit the pvp dungeons!
Part 2 has been posted, see above!
I think it's promising, having public dungeons in Cyrodiil will be good for people that like a mix of PvP/RvR and there is also the strictly PvE content for those that don't like PvP. I've seen scattered information from the videos about "adventure zones" as well, that are like instanced endgame zones for groups or raids that get progressively harder the further you push in. I'm not sure if the Adventure zones have PvP enabled or as an option or if it is strictly PvE content though. They seem to be aiming high, whether they can accomplish it or not is yet to be seen.
