Since most of the posts here are from 2014, I thought I'd start fresh.  I'm looking for good newbie friendly add-on recommendations.  To start, a mini map, a quest display showing several at a time and something to keep me organized with crafting would be welcome.  Is there an add-on that imports settings from one character to a new alt?  Any good ones out there that I don't know I need yet?  Is ESOUI a safe and current site for addons?

I like Votan's Minimap and Ravalox Quest Tracker to answer your first question. I don't really craft but I do use HarvestMap for gathering. It's like Gatherer if you played WoW. Map Pins adds a lot of info to your map that is missing. Bandit's UI is a good all-in-one that works well without much fiddling, but as a new player it might be better to stick with the default until you find what bugs you. Keep it in mind for down the road though. If you don't like the buff tracking in BanditsUI, you could try Srendarr. It's a bit more customizable. DarkUI is purely cosmetic but I find the default UI ugly to it's a must-have for me.

ESOUI is the best place for addons. They have an addon manager called Minion that works well and keeps things up-to-date.

Hope this helps you get started.

Oh, be still my squirrel-ly heart, I'm loving HarvestMap.  Slows down the questing though when I wander off to follow harvest nodes, but I get back on the path eventually.  Thank you for the suggestions Calsie!  Minion is making this SO much easier!  Agreed that Bandit's UI is a bit TMI for right now, but looks like something I'll want eventually.  I've also picked up Harven's Research Timers and Inventory Grid View to keep me organized.  Learning WASD and the combat is coming slooooowly, but its quality of life stuff like this that enhances the fun stuff :)

There are lots of good Addons to consider.  Here is my list:

Circonians Addon Selector:  If you use an addon that slows down things, (like harvester, or an auction addon), use this addon.  You can create sets of addons to use, and quickly switch between those sets of addons.  So if you want to go harvesting, have one set of addons that includes harvester.  When you just want to do questing and not harvesting, choose the set of addons that excludes harvester, etc.

Combat metrics:  provide insight to your damage output.

Dark UI:  Ohh shiny.  Purely cosmetic, but i like how it makes the UI look.

Dolgubon's Lazy writ crafter:  Easy way to master writs

Dressing room reborn:  can save your action bars and gear sets as unique sets.

Map pins:  adds useful pins to your ingame map skyshards, lore books, dungeon bosses, etc, etc, etc)

Urich's Skill Point Finder:   shows graphically all the skill points you have (and have not) earned.

Votan's Minimap:  Gives more functionality to the minimap.

Votan's Keybinder:  assists in creating a user account-wide shared keybindings.  (helps keep keybinding the same across characters).

Votan's Search Box:  enables built-in search box of your inventory

Untaunted:  shows a frame of your enemies you have taunted and the time remaining for each taunt.

Master Merchant:  auction house addon

Harvestmap:  self explanatory

Inventory insight:  nice addon for altaholics.  Tracks everything in your characters bags, bank, craftbag, storage chests, etc.

Action Duration Reminder:  track sloted actions that hvae over time effects; reminds you to re-invoke your actions; helps you in your rotations.

Champion Point Respec:  allows you to save your current CP allocation to easily switch between different allocations.

Hope this gives you some more ideas for addons.  I also recently started using Minion.  Love it so much.

These are my current mods through ESOUI and Minion.

AUI - Advanced UI - AUI is an addon that consists of several modules that change the user interface of ESO to simplify game situations.

Lorebooks - Displays map pins for Shalidor's Library books and Eidetic Memory Scrolls

Skyshards - Adds map pins for Skyshards on the world map and compass

For Daily Crafting Writs I use

Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Crafter - Fully Automatic Crafting for all but Alchemy and Provisioning. Which is why I also use the following.

Daily Alchemy - Daily and Master Writs created automatically

Daily Provisioning - It is a simple add-on to automatically create an Provisioning Daily and Master Writs
