Un'Goro: Operation Extinction

By: Aylune

It began much like every other mission, a quest for gold. Aylune had taken a job from a rather sketchy looking goblin in the heart of Gadgetzan. The mission seemed simple enough, travel to the giant crator to the West and bring him samples of the super sticky tar found in the tar pits on the northern edge. While she didn't like working for goblins, she did enjoy their coin, and with the promise of payment she ventured forth.

The crator joined Tanaris in the south, a tight winding trail down into the humid overgrown jungle that had formed in the massive hole. It could be considered a lovely place, overgrown and untouched by man or orc. That was all shattered the second a filthy ravasaur charged from the brush and mailed the druid, it was then she realized these wretched creatures had to go.

Unable to bring forth the death and destruction she felt these lizards deserved she called upon some of her most trusted allies to assist. She called upon the mage Elmunchster with his ability to freeze his opponents in place, the warriors Yobam and Varder with their durable plate armor and vicious blades, and she called upon Bearch a fellow druid who would understand the blight these creatures were and wound gladly assist in their liberation from the earthly plane.

Their arrival was a bit rough to say the least, unwilling to travel the long way around the group decided to take a leap of faith and leapnoff the cliffs edge into Un'Goro. The mage, of course, was fine falling light as a feather with all the cares of one. The druids gracefully kept ledge from ledge, healing each other between the big drops. The warriors however were not so graceful. Yobam attempted to follow the two cats but in his exhuberance kept far beyond the first ledge, clipping the very edge and falling completely limp to the bottom where the druids restored him back to life with as much decorum as they could between giggles. The warrior Varder also met an unfortunate fate, a moments distraction leading him to steer his trusty ram off the ledge at full speed, leaping far beyond all the others and losing his body in the process. The druids attempted to find his body and ressucitate him, but were unable, forcing the dwarf to take a spirit journey back off the cliff that killed him to reclaim his body.

Once all were assembled, they began their mission, they travelled north to first take care of the goblins request for tar before ridding the planet of the dinosaur menace. It was in the far north they learned just how necessary their arrival was. Tucked into a hidden alcove was a small alliance settlement, a small cluster of folks that all needed their help.

"Find my lost supplies, the dinosaurs have taken them hostage!" -one man pled

"Find my lost diary, some filthy plant monster stole it!" -another asked

"Please find my robot monkey, I lost it in monkey fight club!"

"Can you kill a bunch of those flying dinosaurs so I can make a flying meatsuit for myself?'

On and on the crew was given many tasks from the inhabitants. It was with great enthusiasm that the party realized they would be paid for doing what they already planned to do, destroy every walking fossil they could get their nursery hands on.

This began Operation Extinction. Gathering together they laid out a plan, murder everything in sight working in a clockwise motion until all the jobs were completed.

They started with the tar pits, a disgusting bubbling black puddle inhabited by lumbering Tar Lord's. Bit by bit they hacked the foes apart, peeling the tar from their foes flesh as they worked as samples for the goblin in the desert.

The missing money came next, a task met with difficulty as they quickly realized the robot was damaged far too much to move on its own. Fortunately a quick message to clanmate Rorik led to him bringing all the parts they needed to make the robot functional. Repaired to an almost acceptable state the group led the robot back to safety, murdering the over-agressive monkeysnon the way out and collecting a rather stylish assortment of pelts for their efforts.

Bloodpetals came next. The complete annihilation of lasher plants that roamed the entire dense jungle. These were by far the easiest foes in the jungle, the party often just plucking the necessary parts from the lasher's before their body even hit the ground.

The lost supplies and ravasaur mates came next. The party swiftly stashing the lost boxes in their bags before stomping on the ravasaur eggs until their mothers returned to the nest for vengeance. Taking out the new and old generation simultaneously was just about as efficient as one could get. Doubley efficient since one of their quest givers requested the pheromone glands from the mothers for some dubious purpose none of them had any desire to enquire over.

The hive came next. One person in the came had requested a wall scraping from inside and Elmunchster had never liked bugs anyways so they crawled into the hive and began extermination. Every bug inside was cornered and killed, the party blocking any chance of escape by filling their entire passage with violence. With great exhuberance Bearch led them deep within the hive to the Queen's dwelling, and although she called and called for help all her workers had already been eliminated just as she was about to be. Bearch added some insult to the injury by collecting bit of her corpse for use in his alchemy, sure he would come to some discovery from the oozey goo he collected from her mangled form.

The pterodons were next, a rather weak enemy with a penchant for shrieking loud enough to startle the crew into running away, often into the arms of less weak foes. The two druids had to jump to reach the flying foes but we all know how birds fair against a determined cat and these cats were particularly determined. They slaughtered as many as they could find on the thin clifftops, carefully peeling apart their wings for the strange goblins fursuit.

The dinosaur graveyard was the last stop, a large flat area with enormous plated dinosaurs meandering about. The party slaughtee the massive creatures as they went, collecting the bones on of their quest givers requested from the ground as they went.

They finally made it full circle, bags filled to the brim, and exhaustion painting their features as they ascended the path to Marshalls Refuge. The gratitude of the people their was nice, almost as nice as their gold, but the trust prize was killing all the dinosaurs along the way.

Someday people may ask what killed the dinosaurs.
