The Night Of Dastardly Disconnects.

By: Friartuckk

What started out as a usual Tier 3 oRvR night turned into a test of our patience and persistence. We started with the ritual slaying of Shambler in his lair, which gained us a Witch hunter helm. We then split into our three attack forces lead by Danann, Okri and Leathfire. We quickly moved on to capture Furrig's Fall and Bugman's Brewery. We then moved on to Averlorn and Saphery which were ripe for the taking as they were completely capped by Destruction.

We picked up a few more but it seemed we weren't filling out all three warbands like we usually do so we merged into a single large force. Thinking on it now it seems there was probably a reason there weren't as many people flocking to our banners. We accomplished a double capture of The Spire of Teclis and Maiden's Landing. Except for a wayward Shaman that was caught under the platform at Maiden's Landing there was no sign of the enemy. This too should have been a clue as to what awaited us when we moved to capture Wells.

The first door at wells went down pretty quickly, again there still was no real opposition to be faced. However upon starting our attack on the inner door of the keep everyone was mysteriously disconnected. Most people were able to reconnect relatively quickly and the war band began reforming at the war camp in Avelorn. However as the order to move out was given, the server dropped again.

After two drops it was realized that if we were to finish our capture of Wells we would have to move quickly. Which in spite of everyone's continued connection problems we managed to capture Wells. It was then decided to continue on since it seems as things had stabilized somewhat and we move on to capture Sari and Wood Choppas. However while capturing Sari there was another dropout of many of the warband members. At this point it pretty much devolved into a random regenerating war band in which various people would disconnect and then reconnect, but we managed to keep enough on to remain a viable warband as long as no concerted enemy effort was made to stop us. Given the server conditions it seemed very unlikely that this opposition would form.

After cleaning up the remaining BO's we went to go ahead and see if we could take out Ghrond's. Reports started to come in that our connectivity issues were not isolated to just us, they were occurring across all servers and to all factions. Feeling that given the current conditions there wouldn't be much opposition at Ghrond's we moved to attack it and hopefully finish the night early on a high note.

After a continuing storm of disconnects we managed to push on through with enough people to take Ghrond's. Upon successful liberation of the High Elf lands of Averlorn and Saphery, this Archmage decided to call it a night. Certainly not one of the longest T3 oRvR nights in my Gaiscioch history but a successful one nonetheless.

As this was most likely my last T3 oRvR night with the family I want to begin the habit of writing an event recap for the family oRvR events I am involved in. I look forward to continuing this tradition in Tier 4 and I hope to see you all there very soon.
