Graves To Dig

By: Aylune

What is th difference between grave robbing and archaeology? Some would say time, others intent. In this scenario our crew of rapscallions was veering in the direction of grave robbing, it could hardly be considered otherwise when we were literally digging up still loose soil.

Still rumors of riches sent us to Zul Farrack, and as fate would have it the trolls inhabiting the ruins were severely lacking in that category. Looting the trolls corpses as they were killed rewarded little more than sweat, tablets of questionable value, and jars of a substance the primitive beasts called mojo that they used to enhance their appalling odor. Disappointment filled the party until a helpful voodoo priest accidently brought the hidden riches to their attention.

Deep in the center of the compound rested a quaint little graveyard, a small room of worship in the center where the priest was busy at work. Following their motto of "if it shows up it blows up" the team went to kill him. He proved much more difficult once he began summoning the dead from their graves to fight for him. The glinting silver and gold of the undead were a welcome sight to the party, especially the rogue who eagerly stuffed his hands into the sanctimonial wrappings of the reanimated foes. Working quickly they dispatched the voodoo master and all his summoned foes, peeling jewelery and weapons from the hands of the fallen undead.

The thought of digging up the remainder came naturally, and of course everyone agreed, even the paladin and druid who would normally be oppossed to such behaviors. One by one they desecrated grave after grave looting trinkets and desecrating corpses to keep them from arising again.

If one thing was certain, it was that they would be returning for more. The dead have no need for such fortune, and the living breathing party members were more than willing to take it.
