Alia Stormkiller - Pt 4

By: Cerulean

Alia Stormkiller Part 4......

So for the next 2 years Alia studied, trained and worked hard to become the best Necromancer she could. She didn't graduate at the top of her class but she was happy to have graduated at all.

After the end of her first year she watched as Cerulean graduated from the Academy at the top of her class. As soon as Cerulean graduated she enlisted for another 2 years. Alia barely had time to talk to her before she was off to her new post.

She missed Cerulean as they had become friends during that year and she was happy when she came back while on leave. She always made it a point to stop and see Alia for at least a day.

Now on graduation day they also pass out your assignments and Alia was surprised that she was to report to Necromancer Munne in Ashford Abbey. She was extremely happy as they had become as close as they could while still maintaining that Instruction/Student relationship.

So that night she packed her things and the next morning she headed out for the Abbey. Along the way she passed some folks heading to Ascalon and was surprised when everyone of them greated her. She wasnt used to people being nice and saying hi to total strangers.

It took only about 30 minutes to get to the Abbey and once inside she asked where she could find Munne. One of the priests, named Paulis was generous enough to take her to where Munne stayed. Alia liked Paulis, he was very friendly and very excited about learning to be a Monk. In fact he was still talking until Munne finally said, "Paulis, please be quiet. I am sure you have some sort of training to do".

At that Paulis just smiled said goodbye and left. Munne laughed and said "That boy, I just don't know what we are going to do with him."

Alia was puzzled and asked "Why? He seemed like a nice person."

"He is extremely nice and would do anything to help anyone. He just has the problem of when he starts talking he usually doesnt stop."

Then Munne faced Alia and said, "Now lets get down to business. For the next year you are stationed here with me. It is possible that after that year you might be able to stay longer. The reason you got this assignment was mainly because of me. I wanted to teach you some more."

"As you know you have learned quite a bit of magic during your 2 years, but that is just a small part of what is out there. I wanted to help you learn more. The reason for that is that in every spell you have learned you have been able to use it with more power then anyone who has come through here in more then 20 years."

"In fact some of your spells you have used with more power then even I could produce. Alia, every Necro has a gift. They have a special power so they can cast these spells. Most Necros can get to the level that I am at, but a few, maybe 1 every 20 or 30 years has even more of a gift. They for reasons unknown have the ability to pull in more power and to use their skills with more power and ability then others."

"I sense that you have that gift and I want to help train you to use it while you are still in the military. I will tell you now that as soon as you get out you need to seek out someone who can train you at this higher level. But until then I will give you as much training as I can."

Alia liked her training with Munne very much. There wasn't much military related things to do exept an occassional function they had to attend. They spent time all over the Ascalon region. They visited Baradins Estate, Ft. Ranik and the surronding areas. They went to the beautiful Piken Square and trained there. Everplace that Mune took her she included traning, even in the Mountains, which where not Alia's favorite.

Alia learned her lessons very fast and soon could rival Munne on most everything. At this point Munne told her that she was turned down for staying another year and that in a month she would transfer to Kasha Blackblood as her new assignment. Munne told her not to worry as Kasha specialized in another line of Necromancy and she would learn a lot from her.

When the time came Alia reported to Kasha. Kasha told her up front that she would only be with her for 1 year but during this time she would learn everything she could about Blood Magic.

Kasha wasn't quite as pleasent as Munne, but it bad. Alia learned everything that Kasha could teach her and with this training Kasha felt she was ready to lead a few patrols. Most of the patrols Kasha gave her where in and around Barradins Estate combating Grawls & Bandits.

That was how her second year of service went. She enjoyed it very much, but was not looking forward to year 3 as she knew it would not be with Munne or Kasha. When her orders came in she was surprised. She was to report to Mhenlo back in the Abby.

Upon her arrival Mhenlo greated her with open arms. He told her that the main reason she was here was because she had showed interest in the monk's ablities and he along with the other monks would teach her all they could.

Alia liked this 3rd year as the monks where pleasent and she was able to visit Munne from time to time. Alia learned the monk skills but she wasn't as thrilled with them as her necromancer ones. During this time she was able to get with Cerulean when she came back to visit and just enjoyed her time.

When her 3rd year ended she was presented with the option to re-enlist, but she decided that she needed to get back to Yaks Bend to fullfill her years service to the Baron so she could go and find the advanced training that Munne talked about.

After her enlistment ended she headed back to Yaks Bend and went to the Barons place. He congratulated and welcomed her back and he told her that Sandra and her mother should be passing through in about a month.

Alia learned that her job for the Baron was basically to help protect his heards. It was a fairly easy job with the occassional Wolf or minotaur to deal with. Alia didn't expect anything from the Baron, but he gave her a nice room to stay in and even paid her. He told her that she was woking for him. He expected the year as agreed on and she was welcome to stay longer. He also told her that he pays the people who work for him.

A little over a month later Sandra & her mother where back in Yaks bend. They where on their way home. Alia was happy to see them as she only had the chance in her first year of service. They where around for a few days and when they went to leave Alia promised to stop by.

The rest of her year was uneventful. The Baron asked her to stay on, but Alia declined telling him that she still had more to learn about being a Necromancer and she headed out towards Sandras place. She stayed with them for only a few days. They had no idea where she could find the training she was looking for and they recommended that she try in Lions Arch.

So her journey to LA began.......
