Hey all,
After figuring out how to use OBS to stream last weekend I found some free time this week to make a couple of videos on game mechanics and upload them to youtube. The first two videos are explaining what affects the damage of your abilities and basic attacks complete with demonstrations showing this is the case.
I'm going to make more and try to hit as many topics as I can by launch and then see where to go from there. I'll have links to my videos and my stream in my sig and I'll be streaming at some point this weekend so feel free to stop by and say hi.
I'm brand new to this stuff so I have a lot to learn so what I could really use is some feedback on the videos and their format.
Do you feel the videos are too long and slow paced and boring? Did I go into too much detail trying to show too many skills and explaining things too much? Or do you feel the opposite, that I didn't explain things enough and I should take more time? I had originally hoped to have the videos come in around 5 minutes a piece but I didn't want to cut out the explanations since that's the whole point of the video! Once I get a better editing program and better (read: any) editing skills maybe I can condense the content some, and at the least make it look a little more professional.
Any technical advice such as good (free) video editing programs or resources would also be appreciated. I also noticed that even though OBS was recording at 720p (and even when I had it record at 1080p) at 30 and 60 fps the resulting video file is very pixellated when there is movement or changes in the picture. Does anyone know if there are settings I can change to reduce that? I'm using pretty much the same settings in OBS as I do for streaming so maybe there is something I can increase to get a better quality video since I'm not limited by my upload speed.
Thanks for reading, now go watch them and come give me feedback on how to improve them.
Oh, and also reply here if there is something in particular you'd like to see a video on.
