Greetings Everyone,
On September 5th 2012 at 6PM PST we will be holding a memorial for one of our most influential members Roger "Oldroar" Rall. In respect to this event, his family, and our family I want to ask that you refrain from holding events at this time. I would like everyone in RIFT and in Guild Wars 2 to take this hour to remember him or learn about who he was to our family.
If you plan a raid you will not have access to vent. I will be locking it down with special settings for the duration of the event to prevent trolling. I ask that all of you please try to attend this event as it means a lot to most of us. Even if you did not know him you will learn something about who he was and what he gave to us. If your on Ventrilo I want you to be in the channel with us. Those that linger in other channels will be removed to allow more attendees to enter ventrilo.
I have put advance notice to TypeFrag to hopefully get our limit raised to 750 for the event but even still we may exceed that. Please be respectful and realize that this is not just a man who passed away but a mentor to a lot of us. All I ask is 1 hour of full unity.

To clarify, is the memorial on Faeblight or Sanctum of Rall? Or will it be held on both homes so more family can show their respects?

I'll try to be there (I originally for some reason thought this was on a Sunday but realize now its a Wed and I have to work)
If all else fails I just try to install Vent on my work computer to listen in.

It will. Leonar will be leading everyone to lighthouse island to observe the memorial and give Oldroar a sendoff.

I couldn't possibly dream of not attending. Being new, I didn't have the honor of meeting Oldroar but seeing him through all of your eyes and words has moved me to tears countless times since I first began exploring these forums and who Gaiscioch were as a family.
I'm sure it doesn't need to be stated, but if the ventrillo limit becomes an issue, I wholeheartedly ask to be given the boot to make room for people with history and more deserving than myself. I'd just be happy to stand alongside all of you at the Shaemoor Garrison to honor his legacy.

I had an Idea for the memorial. When you send mail a white dove flys across your screen anyone can see. There is a video on it here

During a moment of the event we should try and all at one send mail to each other, it would create a amazing flock of white doves and would be very video/screen shot worthy and memorable.

Quick note about lighthouse island for people who will be in Rift for the memorial:
If you have the abyssal madness buff for the water saga quest, all sorts of weird tentacles and npcs will be visible on the island and will keep triggering cutscenes. If you don't have the quest at all, or are far enough along you have the visage of the deep buff, or you've completed the quest, you won't see the npcs.
Just a heads up for anyone who might be coming, and who may be working through the water saga.
