Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor

I don't think I have ever endorsed a console game in my Guildie world before, but this will be the exception.

I picked up this title for the PS4 and after a couple days of playing it am ready to give it the Brace stamp of approval.

It has some unique qualities and some familiarity creating a satisfying open world, gaming experience. It looks great, plays great and keeps you wanting to more.

If you enjoyed either the Batman series or the Assassin's Creed series you will like the combat in this game and how the character moves about the environment.

What I find most appealing isn't the stunningly vivid graphics, or the seamless game-play, (This title has both), but the unique Nemesis Mode which allows for the growth and development of your enemies.

You die and they get stronger.

You get killed by an Orc, it gets notoriety and becomes a captain. A captain defeats you, it moves up the ladder and gains better rank and power. Pretty sweet! They also remember you when you bump back into them. I had one tell me his favorite thing about killing me was the long silence afterwards...lol I totally laughed.

You play as Talion, a Ranger who's dead before the game even starts, He see's his wife and child killed before getting the same. But an ancient Wraith binds himself to the Ranger's corpse, giving him a combination of wraith abilities and Ranger skills. Complete awesome-sauce.

I got some bonus goodies when I bought my copy including a character skin and additional content.

Overall, I am satisfied and am finding it to be an awesome diversion. Thought it might be of interest.

***WARNING***

The game is NOT kid friendly as it is violently graphic. It lives up to it's "M" rating so I won't be playing this when my grandkids are around.

I completely agree! I bought it on PS4 as well and I have been addicted since the moment it loaded. This is one of the coolest games I've played in a while. And Elsimer...I have been avenging your deaths for the past three days! Stop dying!!!! lol.

Same here.... I picked this up a few days ago for my PS4. I love that I can jump in hunt down a few orcs and get out my daily work frustrations with little time commitment. I'm loving the play style for sure.
