New Feature for Commanders on SanctumofRall.com

Hey Everyone,

If your leading a wvw event please log into sanctumofrall.com and use the commander on deck feature. It allows you to mark that your on field and automatically tracks the ppt for the zone your running in. It will also have a Commander score, Commander Commendation system, leaderboards and a weekly commander raffle where you can win extra siege weapons. All you need to do is login and make sure your account is flagged as a commander. Then click "Claim Lead" on the homepage. I need us to use it to encourage others to step up and use it.

1) Is this ONLY for people who have a commander tag?

2) If the answer to 1 is "yes", then that means that if we want to run wvw we HAVE to have a commander tag or not get credit on the SoR.com site and can ONLY get credit on the GSCH site?

3) Is there any way to tie the GSCH and SoR.com sites so that someone does not have to go to 2 different sites to set up and log events that he ran?

4) Feel like buying me a tag (kidding)?

To sum up these questions, my primary concern is that people who do not have a commander's tag may be discouraged from running wvw events.  There are numerous possible solutions if this concern is true.  e.g. Allow people to manually enter events on SoR.com on top of the automated tag tracking.  Tie events on GSCH to the SoR.com site and for those not on the site already it will be auto-added (thus making it so people do not have to do stuff on multiple sites). etc.

Anyone can mark themselves as a commander on SanctumofRall.com. Even if they don't have a tag. That gives them the leadership option. The whole idea behind this is to encourage people to tag up more and unite as a server. The Tag draws attention and pulls people onto the field with you. Thats what we're after. This system is built to encourage people to play together. Running Tagless doesn't bring people to the fight. It secludes you from the rest of the community.

Everyone on Sanctum of Rall has to use SanctumofRall.com as well as their own guild site. There's no special privileges for GSCH members. The 2 systems run entirely different anywho. One tracks objectives taken, the other automatically monitors PPT. The 2 sites calculate the whole thing entirely differently. With SOR.com we focus on PPT over time, on Gaiscioch.com we focus on individual battles.

I misunderstood.  Thank you for making the distinction between commander on SoR.com and commander/tag in game.  I interpreted the use of the term commander as one who is tagged up.  Not everyone has 100g to buy a tag and I do not expect anyone to give me a tag/100g - so one day I will have one - but not today.  Please do not interpret my question as an attempt to justify not having a tag (your remarks justifying using a tag causes me to think you partially misunderstood the source of my concern).  My concern is that it is not possible for everyone who wants to run events to immediately be able to afford a tag and the system possibly was discouraging those who do not have a tag from ever running an event until they can pass the 100g gate.  Thank you for making it clear that this is not the case.

I can see where someone, who is new, might misunderstand that a commander tag is needed.  Lots of players already believe that a commander's tag is needed to lead out in WvW; many won't follow someone unless they have a tag.  I'm speaking from experience, because I've been told to sthu because I don't have a tag, but then peeps get to know me and it stops being an issue.  I've also been yelled at for not turning on my tag, its just something with that stupid blue icon that people need to see it, to feel all warm and fuzzy.

Also, I think I mentioned something in RC, but Fog, this is just absolutely brilliant.  You've had some great community building ideas in the past, but this is just... The. Tops.  I can't express well enough how impressed I am with the way you've designed it and I'm actually a wee bit jealous (ashamed) that I would never have thought of it.  Game developers should be jealous that they didn't think of it (yea, @you, Anet and ZOS).  ;)

I'm going to try to make some time to help promote this.  I haven't checked yet, but if we've dropped down to Bronze after yesterday, I think that transfers to SoR will be pretty cheap now, so maybe some promo spam in the megaserver zones, for this new feature on the sanctumofrall.com website, might get us some interest and maybe even some transfers for folks looking for something a bit more than what they have on their servers.

My confusion arose from the description on the SoR site and not in the one Fog posted above.  I should have been more clear about that and even quoted the perceived discrepancy (which Fog allayed).  I misread the SoR site's detailed description that it was automatically tracking the person's tag, which made me think that you had to have a tag to host events on the SoR site in this context, which lead to me asking for clarification.  The way we do things in GSCH is different than the way we do things in SoR non-guild - as Fog described in his above response, and I was concerned that if I was misreading this (even though I figured it was probably not the case, but better safe than sorry) that others might as well, so I asked for clarification.

Oh, yeah, and do not take my questions and comments as criticism.  This is a great idea and I appreciate that Fog is spearheading this initiative.  It took hours of works for him to set this up, both technically and politically, and I applaud his efforts and results.  I am optimistic as to its effects to help re-solidify the SoR community and to make WvW a place where I can once again log in at the very random times I play and actually be able to play WvW somewhere that is not Edge of the Mists.
