The one I'm concerned about is the introduction of more AI to wvw. its only going to be another buggy, and potentially exploitable event. players will find a way. Otherwise it looks promising.
This pleases me greatly: Alt+F4 is no escape If someone that you’re fighting disconnects during combat (via Alt+F4, killing the client process, etc.) their character will be instantly killed, death penalties will be applied, and XP & loot will be handed out as usual. The poor sportsmanship associated with people doing this has bothered me.
Reading the thread made me laugh, people are so funny with the "what if's?" and negative predictions, especially the Alt-F4 fix. I mean seriously, players run a higher risk of dying to other players, than they ever will to a random disconnect or crash. Its the same risk that everyone accepts when they go out to WvW. Not to mention that getting disconnected or crashing while fighting a NPC (or player) happens in many, MANY other games, that require repairs after a character death.
If only I got credit for every kill that happened due to a crash. ;)
I'll take the 4 deaths this would have caused yesterday where I had to Alt-F4 due to my internet crashing to keep people from using it as a cheezy way to "escape" the reality of the battle. ::evil grin:: I've seen stuff about the culling they are doing in WvW that is live already. Some real and useful feedback to ArenaNet on that would be a good thing. I've seen a lot of whining about it that really would not lead to how to fix it better.
:) we all know there are plenty of whiners and complainers everywhere we go in life. I think Anet knows this also and skips them and really listens to the constructive feedback. @sprong- the npc would not be a bad thing even if he glitches as long as the absolute limit to his help is fixed to the southernmost supply camp and lowlands supply camp and the lake tower if you started on that side. So he helps you get two supply camps and one tower. This would help give people a foothold without having a crazy high buff and or a super npc just take over half the map. The thing that would be hard is the total area this guy will have to cover if the bl that you are wiped from is your own bl. This npc would have to run around A LOT and has terrain issues that could cause him to be completely ineffective. All in all tho even if he does glitch...its better than absolutely nothing...lol
I believe the NPC is not concerned with supply camps only with the closest tower. In enemy borderlands that is obvious the tower directly north of spawn, but in your own I am interested to see which tower it picks or if it attacks both towers directly west/east of citadel.
A Guy with a Dolyak?... meh I think my idea of a twelve foot tall enraged gorilla with sockem boppers would have been much more entertaining. Ok maybe an NPC but make it Frau Farbissina (from Austin Powers) and instead of summoning a Dolyak she just yells "Release the Gorilla!!". You have to admit you would take at least a step back if you suddenly saw an enraged twelve foot tall gorilla with sockem boppers super glued to his hands, coming to assault your tower.... hmm maybe throw in a few circus bears riding large balls that keep slamming against the gates while circus music plays. Games need a serious injection of some humor if you ask me. For that matter why not throw in Santa from Futurama into the fray of the WvW as an added threat to all servers. It would be cool to see a zerg running across the battle field on it's way to a supply camp only to run into evil Santa who rides in yelling "Time to get jolly on your arses!!". Like a roaming world boss. Raid Call would be interesting to listen to. "Ok all rally on me. We're going to go take Greenbriar... HOLY sweet mother it's Santa run!!"
or a giant bunny with bones and coconut shells strewn about at its feet :)
