Heh this is gonna hurt ;) Hang on for the ride :D
I see a rematch with SOS in a week or two... they might just become our rival server. Would love to beat them - last night was a blast despite their zerg cleaning our clock... that fight in the tower were we wiped them after 20 minutes or so was very epic.
Exciting!! *bounces happily* I am loving how complex battle is becoming now, it's a pretty rough road!
It's cool to be higher ranked, but it should be about the fun of the battle. I rather see tough opponents versus an easy roll over. No, I don't get into WvW much at all, though I do like it, but when you need to coordinate, change directions on the fly per reports, and use guerilla tactics on the enmey, now that's a war! Don't forget the journey on the way to the final destination. The journey is filled with many things.
I do agree Briseadh, my view... Which may or may not be true is that the higher we are the less likely the other servers just give up. Giving up is a loser tactic, losers normally don't move up. Look at the fight last week, SOS never gave up.
Other things can contribute of course like population decline or sever fccus on pve over wvw.
**** OK so maybe I was wrong... annoying to be proved wrong so quickly but such is life... Seems to me that while we are in Tier 3, our "competition" this week has given up already... this being Saturday morning... I really hope they step up their game****

Numbers do play a part as do Time zones its hard to hold terriorty when you have no defenders online . However you can defeat superior numbers it all depends on what tactics you use and what the end objective is . Is the objective to play the match as a chess game , killing off your enemy and hoping to outlast him while taking objectives ? Or is it to outwit, your enemy, use deception, diversion tactics attack soft targets, to confuse , divide, and bleed your enemy of resources while taking min losses and capturing key objectives ,. I see it as the latter to use geruilla tactics to out wit your enemy and win . there is a great series that i think all would be commandeers, as well as people who enjoy straget games in general should check out . It is based on Sun Zu 500 bc china who with 30k men defeated a invader force of over 300k men using hit and run tactics and diversion to cature key targets while avoiding direct engagments , unless it serverd the bigger picture . like deciding on the main target then having diversion units attack secondary targets to draw tropps away from the real target , etc, Here is the link to the youtube site it is 9 parts long series with each part being 10 min in length . Well worth watching if you plan on leading people in WvW or if you play stragey games in general . http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+art+of+war+history+channel+&oq=the+art+of+war+history+channel+&gs_l=youtube.12..0.45499.47344.0.49330.6.6.0.0.0.0.58.313.6.6.0...0.0...1ac.1.Rs9Xrmcxplk
It's interesting that you can come in 2nd and still go up a couple spots. That should illustrate that it's never too late to keep fighting.
Last night was a blast. We manhanded them into submission. Our night crew last night was pretty stacked.thanks everyone that came out and turned the map green. Our natural color.
will we get a rematch with sos next week? because if they move up... wouldnt mind seeing prx again. they were alot of fun and tough to fight.
Yep it will be SoS, Sor and IOJ next match up. Should be interesting.
