Indeed we did my friend Indeed we did :D
YES!
Sweet can't believe we pulled it out.
I missed all the fun due to some business travel, but this is still great to see. I should be able to join in a bit more this time around.
*spits out a tooth*
Well done! I hope we keep getting good matches :)
This week, Yak's Bend is back with a vengeance and gaining too much of an early lead. Good thing is we have several days to make up for it, but we have our work cut out for us!
Yak's Bend is dominating this morning - they own probably 90% of the field and are increasing at roughly +645 a tick... we are around +20 a tick.
I saw they were looking for Aussie guilds to hold their territories overnight
They mad, grabinig orbs first would help everybody to catch up.
Everyone in SoR is probably still exhausted from the final effort to gain the lead last match (I know I was, and Elth was definitely feeling it, hehe), while Yaks is highly motivated (10-golem army motivated) to remedy their last defeat against us. We saw the same thing happen to Darkhaven in our consecutive matches against them - first week victory, then they fell hard in the rematch. Time will tell if Yaks can keep up the momentum (and the finances - their playstyle costs a fortune of ingame currency).
HORRY another week of win!
That was a great back and forth battle, glad I was apart of it.
Yummy comeback inc...
After Elth's WvW offpeak event:
We finally got a piece of the pie....

You guys are rocking the house! Nice work!
Just look at that big, juicy slice of blueberry pie. :)
I'm bummed that I had to miss the epic conclusion to our WvWvW push this weekend due to work obligations, but really look forward to taking away Yak's binkies again this week. I've noticed they tend to start strong, then get either complacent or burned out (or both), opening a window for the competition to gain ground.
Gate of Madness doesn't look like a big contender right now but they may step up their game once they see us coming back like this so I'll be keen to see how they fare in the next few days.

Excellent progress, glad to see this. If they thought they would break us with early domination they were wrong.
Got to say, when Yaks took the early lead I was concerned we wouldn't be able to regain ground (assuming they would continue with their momentum), but then.....BAM!
Cheers to you guys over the weekend and I believe we have the man power and events during the week to keep us ahead.
What I sense coming is the eventual second matchup between Sanctum of Rall, Isle of Janthir, and Crystal Desert. In the first days after the game launched, this was a close matchup. We came in third place, and IoJ and CD moved on to some success while SoR struggled for a while. It would complete the circle to eventually face these guys again.
Current ranking
TL;DR We are currently 14th NA

And climbing. :) We got off to a rocky start against some of the super-huge-PvP servers at launch, so that pushed us down the ladder, but since then we're steadily gaining ground. There will be setbacks, no doubt, but so long as the forward progress surpasses any backward steps, we'll be just fine and will eventually end up right where we're meant to be.
GOM seems ready to move back down - if they are trying they are not doing that well.
My understanding is that GoM had several of their WvW guilds xfer off their server leaving behind primarily PvE guilds
It's a shame that GoM isn't making more noise than they have been thus far. I'd much rather have a three-way fight than just us and Yak's pounding on each other all week. A strong third contender opens up the strategic options a bit.

i am now at the point where i log in look at the pie chart, which is all blue, get depressed (yes depressed), and then lvl in pve. am i the only one who does not like it when we are completely and utterly destroying all competition? If there is nothing to take or no enemies to kill why jump into a wvw borderland or eb? I guess we can pve farm in wvw areas now???..lol jk.
Yeah, it seems quite a few guilds joined our server and have upset the balance. This is also happening on several other servers while xfers remain free they can server jump 1x per 24 hours. Gate of Madness is suffering from having lost a large portion of its WvW guilds.
EDIT: (oops, this is Sklurb. I accidentally posted using my daughter's forum ID)

I agree. This morning I logged in and SoR was +640. There was really nothing to do but the jumping puzzle. I'm hoping tonight it gets a little more lively.
This match has been a bit of a tortoise and hare result. Yaks blitzed ahead at a breakneck pace, promptly got overconfident and it seems went to sleep. SoR stuck to their guns and persisted at a steady pace to close the gap and overtake. Here's hoping that Yaks wakes back up to attempt a race to the finish (I was anticipating a repeat of the first day of this match once we overtook Yaks in score, but it hasn't happened yet). Full credit to The Oldies Guild from Yaks. They made a valiant attempt to fight back about 12hrs back, and succeeded in retaking the entire north of Yaks Bend Borderlands, including Garrison Keep. Unfortunately for them, we ensured they couldn't keep their foothold, taking their camps and starving their new acquisitions of supply, ensuring they couldn't build siege or Golems within Garrison to progress further. Wasn't too long before we had repossessed their foothold and both Yaks and GoM were reduced to zerging supply camps. The biggest obstacle our foes now face is building momentum, which can only be accomplished by larger guilds coordinating. Pugs randomly log in to WvWvW in ones and twos, run out, get slaughtered without accomplishing much (if not spawn camped), and promptly log out as fast as the next random pugs are logging in. Only larger guilds can suddenly put a force on the field at the same time of a size significant enough to accomplish something and give the pugs something to rally behind.
@Ruwund3547: You aren't alone. I don't like this match up thus far either. I'd rather fight hard and lose than take an uncontested win.
I actually don't get depressed at all about owning everything. Like many others, I've WvW'ed nearly every day since launch. I've seen us crushed under the weight of the zerg that was Fort Aspenwood just a few weeks ago. We've been nightcapped until demoralized. There were many days when we were just a headless zerg with no commanders taking whatever we could. There were many matches when I'd login pinned at spawn and question why I was even trying. So to me, this feels pretty good. We are on the other end of the matchmaking system. We will eventually move up and face fierce, fierce competition where we will have to fight for everything. I'm going to enjoy it while it lasts, because it will definitely not last forever.
Wow! You guys ROCK! Congrats on a job well done! Myk
Seems to me the Yak's thought they would break us if they took everything Friday night... instead it turned around and broke them when just 24 hours later our fortunes reversed. At this point looking at the score... I doubt they can come back from this woop'n. Up we go...
The good commanders on Yaks have already stated in other forums that many guilds on their server stopped after pouncing on us at server reset and when we took it all back didn't bother logging back in. The Older Gamers have been the only Yak presence I've seen in WvW since, the rest of their server resorted to name calling and blaming the win on transfers instead of fighting back. The good commanders on Gates of Madness have also come out and stated that they just couldn't be bothered after they were beaten last week. I noticed a couple of HoD guild names on Yaks last night so hopefully some of the remnants of the Titan Alliance are also spreading out to the other servers. I just want a good fight each week, it matters not whether we are fighting for 15th place, 23rd place or 1st place, I just want challenging WvW without drama and without the losing side making excuses or the winning side shoving it in their face.
During my event tonight, I noticed a spy from FOO on our server while we were on Eternal Battleground and they started to grab stuff on SOR borderlands so we went back to SOR borderland and took the stuff we lost back.
Let them spy imo. If it means we get more fighting I'm all for it.
I agree Elth, I just want a good fight - last week was awesome.
I think I'm going to avoid WvW for the rest of the week. I don't enjoy steamrolling servers. I'll see you all for some fun on Sunday night and hopefully we can have a fun event.
Probably a good idea to rest up and recharge our batteries for the next match, which if our score keeps rising the way it is, supposedly could turn out to be a top tier match. We always intended to work our way up to the top... just not this fast.
I will participate in the Thursday Trinity event but other than that I will stay out till the reset. I just wonder if there will be anything to do come Thursday... by then we will be past 300K.
