Hey all I just wanted to let you all know that you CAN install the retail client (which is now availible for download via the official website) in the directory that you wish... It also installs the GW2 icon on your desktop as well as games folder on Win 7 (at least)... I downloaded the 1st part of this (the installer or log in screen...) then I stopped it and cut and pasted the other files from the beta client and volia I have a working copy of the retail client now installed WITHOUT downloading the entire file structure again... So save some bandwith and just copy and paste :)
I'm sure this would work on other computers too allowing that you have a flash drive large enough to hold the files or a usb hard drive...

This also works on Win Vista as I just used a usb hard drive to transfer the files to my wife's computer... The GW2 icon did appear on the desktop, as well as in the games folder... :) So all you need to copy to the new directory are the files "Gw2.dat" and "Gw2.tmp" from the beta directory... Hope this helps... :)

hum....didn't know that was an issue. My client was also in the downloads folder, I just cut and pasted it into my program files and it works fine. And since my internet gets overcharges, I downloaded it once and copied it to my brothers computer, it works as well.

The "live" client already works for the stress tests now because I have logged into the stress tests with it. I made sure the install process put it into a folder within the Program Files directory. The game can have more issues if run from temp or download directories, do definitely don't want it there. The install process asked me where I wanted it and suggested a folder for itself in the program files unlike the beta client setup which you had to move.
If you then move the .dat file from the beta into where the live executable has put the install, it will save a lot of download time as it will only have to add and update files that changed since the last time you used the beta as compared to the live setup. Might still be quite a few, but definitely not a 200K file download.
If you don't have the beta's .dat file, well, I hope you have an internet connection and computer faster than my setup. ;) I would be setting it up well before hand and every now and then running an update for files, so when it's time to play you are able and ready. =)

Go for 'G' rated. I dare you! =D You're words carry far more weight and power than you will ever know. Never expect people to take them the same way either.
