News from: Tamriel Foundry

Today the new patch for ESO’s first adventure zone, Craglorn, was released on the public test server. You can read the full patch notes on the Tamriel Foundry forums. A lot of the changes in this patch (1.1) are exciting, particularly the addition of Craglorn itself. However, there is at least one issue in this patch that is [...]

There is a pretty big thread on the ZOS Forums trying to fight this.  I'm inclined to agree with them.

I hate AoE caps in every game :/

From reading the article, it seems like lots of AoEs were already capped, and they're "fixing" the ones that weren't.

 yep caps to some degree are not bad , however GW2 only had what 5 targets able to be hit with aoe making it almost useless .esp since you couldn`t stack aoes .

  But remember it`s not a nerf . lol :P

 With caps on AOE  it`ll go the way of GW2  from people spreading out into smaller groups more tactiful game play , where smaller forces can hold off a larger zerg  with choke points.

 To  GW2 and just zerging the map since aoe are nothing to fear and are no longer effective do to a 6 person cap . /yawn

I am of the opinion that standing in fire is bad and stacking in fire should be discouraged.  Discouragement through AoE is the perfect way to do it, and capping AoE at 6 people is counter productive.    There are already hard counters to spell damage in the form of spell resistance, if people want to soak up AoE, they should invest in survival.  Or as a wise Bentmer once said in Telara, don't stand in the poo.

Evasion is also an option if ZOS want to make changes

In D&D 3rd edition, there was an evasion/improved evasion ability that rogues and monks gained at a certain level this ability allowed them to roll reflex checks to avoid AoE/Spells, I don't see why an ability like Evasion/Improved Evasion couldn't be placed into the medium armor passive line.  Of course, the best way to combat this is to just not stand in poo or fire.

@Elth

Medium armor has a "dodge" ability and nightblades also have a sort of "dodge" ability as well.  The only thing ZOS would have to do is to have the dodge affect all abilities instead of just single target ones.
