 hope they add it like it was in warhammer , you could move thru friendly  forces and not thru the enemy , if they don`t add it , it will be pretty lame esp in pvp where you can run through people you are fighting to prevent them attacking you or casting a spell etc .

I think collision detection is amazing, but if it comes at the cost of rendering players on screen or delayed skill ability, I would rather be able to play the game reliably.  Until such time as developers can make a game with collision detection and large scale warfare without sacrificing the quality of the game I think it would be wise of them to avoid it.  I don't know what the current technology is capable of, but I believe it has always been an n^ network issue, and we are moving into a quantum networking era in the near future so we may very well see it soon.

  i thought collision detection was fine in warhammer and  we had battles of over 300 each side fighting in the same keep 

so the current tech is already there to do that , wether they do or not is up to them .

Didn't Warhammer have to severely reduce character animations and other quality factors in battle for it to work though?  It's been over four years since I even looked at Warhammer Online so my memory is hazy.  I know Age of Conan had collision in both PvE and PvP and I loved it, but their keep sieges were plagued with the same issues that Guild Wars 2 had with skill lag and culling with far less numbers.  I do hope they can do it, because it really adds so much extra depth to tanking when you can literally body block to protect the back line.

I remember Shadowbane had a collision ability on certain classes. I think tying to an ability rather than having it always on was due to system resources (that game was way ahead in its concept of what the hardware of the time could handle). It certainly could change the flow of PvP combat.

Warhammer reduced character animation with distance, looked very odd at max.

I would prefer collision in combat, it just seem so wrong that you can just run clear thru enemy lines without bumping into enemy players.  

While it was not perfect in Warhammer, it worked fine for me on a bad computer.
