This will be an information and tip thread on the Imperial City, the sewers, tactics, FAQ, and loot.
The Imperial City
Overview:
The Imperial City (IC) is ESO's first DLC. It is free access while you are a Subscriber, and otherwise costs 2500 Crowns. It is a hybrid of PvE and PvP, including quests and loot from NPCs and roaming bands of Aldmeri Dominion (AD) and Daggerfall Covenant (DC).
Geography:
The IC sits in the middle of Cyrodiil. To enter it, you must enter a campaign and go through one of the three sewer entrances that circle the city's moat. The easiest one is south from Chalman keep, assuming Ebonheart Pact (EP) owns it, and that there are no enemies camping it.
The IC has six upper zones and a sprawling sewer divided into three branches around a central point. Each Alliance 'owns' a branch of sewers, and two upstairs zones sit on top of each sewer.
- Ebonheart Pact
- Memorial District
- Arena
- Aldmeri Dominion
- Arboretum
- Temple District
- Daggerfall Covenant
- Elven Gardens
- Nobles District
Getting to the Imperial City:
For first timers, there is a quest that you need to get before you can access the IC. First, you need to go to Cyrodiil and talk to Captain Rythe, who is located near the General at the North Morrowind Gate (west of the quest boards). Once you have the quest (City on the Brink), you need to use the Transitus stone (center of North Morrowind gate, looks like a pillar with a blue flame on it) and go to Chalman Keep. Assuming we have Chalman Keep. From Chalman, you ride south down towards the water where the sewer entrance is - be careful of ganks! Sometimes AD and DC like to camp stealthed at it to stop people from going in.
Death and getting back to Base:
Each zone handles death a little differently, and death is also treated differently depending upon who killed you.
- If you die to an NPC, you can [E] and revive in the same place, or you can [R] and release back to a safe zone.
- If you die to another player, you can only [R] to release back to a safe zone, or wait for someone to rez you.
- In the upstairs areas, releasing takes you back to the safe platform from which you can jump down into the zone, or take the trapdoor ladder back to the sewer primary base.
- If you die in the sewers, releasing takes you back to the primary base.
