This post is based on what we figured out as me being the guild leader and well learning by jumping in the fire during CBT2. =)
Clan Start
Someone who is going to be on a LOT at clan start should at least make the clan and set a couple others that will be rather regular to officer. Only the guild master and the officers can do invites. The clan master should also be someone who can get a lot of money quick as it is only the clan master that can donate funds to turn it into a guild.
Change to Guild
I would do this quickly as well and at least try to have it so 30 fit by the time explorers can show up. I would not make huge sums of money by guild missions the first couple of days because if we want or need to change the Guild Master, it costs 50% of the funds the guild has and you cannot have anything in guild storage.
Final Guild Master Choice
This should probably be finalized no later than March 3rd the official start for anyone and as noted in the last note, before we get all crazy doing guild missions.
Requirements:
The guild master should be someone that is going to play regularly several times a week and can at least do check-ins on the days they can't. It has to be someone the majority trusts to do this.
The guild master is the ONLY ONE who can start ANY guild mission. Hence missions need to work around a guild master who can be around. The guild master does not actually have to participate. Let's say Neo wants to do a guild mission event at a certain time each week, the guild master has to at least be available to pop on and start it if he/she can't actually play. so there is a LOT of timing issues a guild master needs to be able to work out to help the guild.
Guild Missions
Once the guild master is definitely set, start making the money! At the start there are some rather fun gathering missions that really help build up the funds fast. Hence, why I say not to slam these through before the main guild master is set because 50% of the funds go poof switching a guild master. We did one mission that we had 2 hours to complete in 90 minutes and got nearly 400K.
Gathering Missions
The issue with gathering missions is that once a tree was gathered by any guildie, that tree cannot be harvested again for the mission. People should be in different areas so they don't wind up overlapping too much and waste time. It was actually fun because we were chatting it up on Vox while doing this and definitely getting a good laugh because I fell somehow and wound up trapping my horse in a cistern. HA! I climbed, horse did not. So, bottom line, SPREAD OUT for these.
Easy tracking - guild missions show up as the top quest in your quest log on the right of the screen. Anyone can jump in any time it is running and try to gather where they are at.
Conquest Missions
For higher levels and it is even suggested L50 or close for the characters. For one it is out near Calpheon and for us L20-22s everything was PURPLE - IE above our level and hard. So these will have to wait a bit, but will be fun to figure out when we get to them.
Conclusion
The clan should be started immediately to get the GSCH tag and at least grown in size as a guild with the master being someone who is willing and able to spend a lot of time working on this as one of their primary goals. No major funds should go in the guild through missions before the official guild master is set. The guild master must be someone wanting to play a lot and even pop in on days they can't play much. And only officers or guild master can do the invites for a clan or a guild.
See you all there March 1st!
