Official Memorial Save-The-Date
Remembering Roger "Oldroar" Rall
For those that knew him we will be holding a Memorial in his honor on Wednesday, September 5th, 2012 @ 6PM PST in Guild Wars 2 at Shaemoor Garrison, Queensdale on the "Sanctum of Rall" server.
The Legacy
Who Was Roger "Oldroar" Rall?
For those that played Warhammer Online on Badlands or Phoenix Throne, or called Faeblight home in the early months of RIFT's existence, Oldroar was a voice you could not ignore. He lead armies into battle, created hundreds of memories for any that followed and held family values higher than any man we had ever encountered. He was a role model, a hero, an inspiration to many.
His legacy lives on through all of us. Whether you were his ally or his foe, you knew his calm stature in battle. Last September, our hero passed on leaving his wife Karen, and several thousand virtual children and grand children behind. His passing was not easy for any of us. It was sudden and unexpected.
In his final months with us he spoke of the pastures green in Guild Wars 2. He proclaimed it was the natural successor of DAOC and Warhammer Online and that it would finally be the home we've been searching for all along. He spent much of his time researching Guild Wars 2, posting video's and articles of the games progress and speaking with the eldership on forming a branch within this title. He was the inspiration that made us first contact ArenaNet about Guild Wars 2 and from that has built a lasting relationship between the Gaiscioch Family and the Developers of Guild Wars 2.
My Grandmother once told me that a man's legacy is not held in what he owned at his time of death. Cars, boats, houses, all the money in the world instantly evaporates upon your exit from this life. None of it matters. Your Legacy is held within the people you impact in your lifetime. The lives you save, the lives you change, and the lives you bring to this world. Roger has changed many of us. His legacy did not die when he left this world. He passed it on to us, trusting that we would pass it on to generations to come. It began as a little wave and has rippled through all of us. It is now up to us, to make his legacy known and pass it on to others.
A Call to Arms
In Loving Memory of Roger "Oldroar" Rall
For those that knew him, we were changed by him. For those that did not meet him, you know him through those who have. Roger "Oldroar" Rall was the father and granddad of hundreds of our kin and to those who followed him into battle. His "Voice" spoke in kindness and calmness even in the heat of battle. He was loving, caring, and compassionate.
Roger changed our family, changed the way we lead, the way we listened, gave us patience, and taught us to lead in kindness. He was the icon of what we should become as fathers and lovers. He loved, he shared, he became legend in all of us.
Today is the day, where we stand and fight to make him a legend forever. His love for Guild Wars 2 and the high hopes he had for it was what put it on our radar as an expansion. His last months were devoted to researching and bringing information to our family. His passion for Guild Wars 2 excited anyone who listened. If it was not for Roger "Oldroar" Rall we may have overlooked Guild Wars 2 completely.
Today I ask all of you to share your story of Roger "Oldroar" Rall with the team at ArenaNet. Tell them why they should name a server after this legendary man who gave it all in the end to helping plan the families next great adventure. If you knew Oldroar share a battle you once fought, share his commitment to Guild Wars 2, his hopes, his desires. Speak his voice and let it be known. Today we have the power to make his "Voice" become legend among the Guild Wars 2 community.
We're in the final hours, before the official server list is announced and now is the time to strike. Give ArenaNet reason to dedicate a server to him, and we as family will see to it that that server never dies.

Stories of Oldroar
"Will not forget all those Warhammer raids, Oldroar the Swordmaster with Musclor the White Lion tearing up with style all over the lands. He was always in the frontline and always looking how to help the team. We drifted a bit in Rift, but I am 100% sure he stayed the same, because I believe, in his essence, OldroarSM is really: Oldroar. You will be missed, friend"
- Musclor, Oct. 14. 2011
"Thank you for everything buddy. R.I.P. You will be missed."
- Docroc, Oct. 07. 2011
"Such a kind and generous man. Oldroar had the heart and courage of a true champion. His wonderful voice, sense of humor and wisdom will be sorely missed on guild vent. To travel down the road with this man, into battle, was a true honor. We all so mourn his passing. His family can take comfort in knowing Roger's life touched so many others--he leaves behind so many, many friends. Oldroar represented the true heart and values of Gaiscioch. 'Suaimhneas siorai da acram'"
- Gaelan, Oct. 05. 2011
"Old was a great guy. He would speak from his heart, and you just had to listen. You'll be missed Old. Will see ya up there."
- Vengful, Oct. 05. 2011
"I spent a lot of time in vent and running along with Oldroar as one of the warband leaders in Warhammer. He was awesome at how he brought people together and made sure they had fun right along with him. He cared for those he played with and thoroughly enjoyed his time here. I missed seeing him here in Rift since he left before I got back with the family, but I won't forget all the times from Warhammer. He lives on in the memories of many."
- Briseadh, Oct. 05. 2011
"Rest in Peace old friend. We all will miss you Greatly."
- Gypse, Oct. 04. 2011
"Oldroar, Gabe and Gill were the first Gaiscioch members who adopted me when I joined the guild. Oldroar was always supportive and encouraging and protective, giving advice and standing tall whenever things got uncomfortable for others to do so. His sense of honor and proper treatment of others, to always put those you are leading before yourself and your own personal desires, were some of the many characteristics he taught by example. Oldroar's leadership style and advice is what convinced me I had found a long term gaming home in Gaiscioch. I am so very sorry Oldroar is gone now and that I did not get to spend more time with such a terrific person. I will miss him deeply."
- Wildflower, Oct. 04. 2011
