It is with heavy heart that I report the passing of Wally Anderson most of us have known as Pops. He was a leader, elder, and columnist for Gaiscioch Magazine. Here is the news via his facebook:
My heart is broken. Today is easily the single worst day of my life. Today I lost the man I love most in this world Wally Anderson
He was so much more than my daddy, he was my hero, my mentor, my friend. This daddy’s girls heart is broken.
He was so excited for us to come visit today, our plane had just landed and we were about to go see his handsome face when they called to tell us he passed. They tried to save him but it was too late. I loved my conversation with him lastnight in the phone, he was so very excited for us to get there. I just wish I could have told him I loved him one more time in person and gave him a hug.
I just spent the past hour holding his hand and kissing his soft cheek. I am glad I was here and able to hold him, even though he was gone, I needed that time with him, I still had lots to say.- Stacy
Pops' Role in Gaiscioch
Pops was a living legend. The man came to me the day he joined us and wanted to let me know that his days were numbered. He told me he had lived "2 years past his expiration date" right before he formally joined us back in 2012. Nobody can say he didn't give life one hell of a run for its money as he went on to live 6 years after that totalling 8 years longer than doctors told him he would survive. While many of us knew this day would come it still hits us hard as we say goodbye to a friend.
He served as a Draoi de na Ulchabhan Buí in the Gaiscioch Family after joining us in 2012. He led the family to 116 victories in 24 events across 2 games. He participated in 7,557 victories in 738 events across 3 games. He was most well known as a practical joker and often had the channel laughing. He will be deeply missed.
