So I assume you own base game and not any expansions yet? If you have more open character slots and you don't have ranger yet, I would say start playing ranger. Rangers are great classes to start GW2 as you get pet. Pets help on fights with mob. Then just start doing map clears from lower level zones. Any new toon has instant access to all races 1-15 lvl starting zones so you can clear multiple lower end maps. Experience gained will scale to your level anyway. Collect all the materials what you can see and slowly move on higher level areas and work towards lvl 80. Also personal story is good too so I would suggest doing that. And while adventuring and doing map clearing, just try different weapons and skills for ranger and that way you learn the class.
There are lot of content in GW2 now and when you hit to lvl 80, you might consider getting expansion or both expansions as it is cheaper to buy them as pack. Path of Fire for example adds mounts in the game through mastery and when you have opened mounts (in total 5), they are account wide and available from level 1.
Hey there Geisthund. Mika gave some great suggestions. Also never hesitate to ask questions in guild chat or get on Discord with us crazy talkative types. ;) I'd even come join you to help you out if not embroiled in something at the time. Half the time I'm on, I'm usually just putzing around.
If you haven't got invited into the "active room" of Na Rall, make sure you ask for an invite. Of course, I'm reading this before checking pending invites my admin thingy is saying exist. ;)
Thanks guys, will do. Ill try to play GW2 between warhammer downtime. I like tanky types but I may take your suggestion and reroll with a ranger so i can kinda "re-learn" the game as it were.
Okay, So today I bought one of the expansions so I could jump my newly created hunter to level 80, and I still kinda have no idea what to do or what I am aiming for lol
