Greetings Everyone,
We all love the thrill of the hunt, toppling the biggest foes, and the strongest of titans. When you look at our history there is no foe that we can not conquer: Dragons, Titans, Colossi, are created to be killed and many of us live to kill them.
One problem a lot of people have when joining the family is seeing the difference from being a "Raiding Guild" to being a "Family that Raids". We are casual in nature, friendly before all else. Our biggest upside is also our greatest downside. Being casual friendly and more laid back than most causes people to flock to us.
There are several types of players. The ones we want to keep and hold onto are those that put family above loot. Â People that put shared victory over personal victory. Ones that can put their ego aside and work as a unit member for the betterment of the whole.
Getting Involved
Joining a Gaiscioch Raid Group takes persistence. While most "Guilds" are built around 1 solitary raid group, our family has multiple going at the same time. Balancing personnel, lockout timers, and availability of people to lead such activities is not an easy task. While we have a handful of people who can lead, we have hundreds that want to participate. Just like trying to pour a gallon of water into a pint size glass not all will fit into the glass. We have to empty the glass before we can pour more in.
That said getting involved in Raiding activities can try your patience. If you need to be in a raid now and that's why you joined, then you might want to find a guild that can meet your needs because you will likely be frustrated. But chances are if you're that type of person you would have never read this far down the page. So if you are a person of patience, to get involed there are a few steps you can take to ensure that you are on the forefront of our raid leaders minds.
- Mark Your Availability. Find an Event on the Family Calendar and mark yourself as available to attend. Signing up on the calendar does not mean you are in the raid.
- Make contact with the Raid leader. Don't be the guy that waits for the girl to ask you out. Take initiative and go talk to them. They are nice and they can give you the situation. There are only 20 spots in a raid group and certain spots have to be filled by certain classes and builds. Only a Raid Leader or Warlord can tell you what they need and what they need may change from week to week.
- Be Available At The Start of the Raid. When I say be available this doesn't mean be in a warfront, or be finishing an expert, this means be ready to grab your stuff and go the second they have room. You are fighting for a seat at a 20 chair table and there are over 140 people trying to sit at that same table.
- Be Patient. You can't always be the one that gets to go. Raid Groups take synergy to maintain. There will be staples that attend every week that will be the core united front. They will learn how each other acts, thinks, and reacts. No team is built overnight. It takes time and discipline to be able to overcome some of these challenges.
- Be Persistent. Just because you didn't get into one raid doesn't mean you should give up. Try again. Try other raids. Try hanging out with the Raid Leader when they aren't leading. Show them what you can do. If at first you don't succeed try try again.
In the end we want to try to get everyone into these dungeons and events but it will take time and patience. Realize that our Raid Leaders can only run 1 raid a week. That raid can only have 20 people. We have only a few raid leaders which means only a few will be able to go. We have an overwhelming amount of people that want to go and not enough room to fit everyone. IF HOWEVER you want to learn the fight so you too can stand up and lead please approach one of our leaders and express your interest in learning the mechanics.
Unlike most "Guilds" our Raid Groups share knowledge. This isn't a race or a battle of who's raid is better. We are a collaborative effort built around building community and friendships. We will be more than happy to teach people the ropes if they want to stand and lead. But we need to know you have the initiative and desire to do so.
Raiding Loot Rules
The way loot works in the Gaiscioch Family is that each Raid Leader sets their own rules. If their rules suck, they don't get participants, they don't earn tokens of valor and they don't get the victories they need to join the Halls of Warlords.
A leader is only as successful as their plan, and their plan includes reward. Each leader is in charge of setting their own structure and making sure they have the right tools for the fight.
The Raid Leader should make their loot rules available before the raid begins both in game and on these forums. If at any time you are unclear what these rules are please ask nicely.
Group Makeup and Attendance
The Gaiscioch family is community focused and as such we highly encourage our Raid Leaders to involve members who are NOT Gaiscioch or Tuatha. While other guilds focus inward on their own advancement, ours is focused on the advancement of all. This may not be what you're used too but we also do not recruit by words. We recruit by action. The only way we get people to join the family is by showing them who we are and what we do. This said it is not only perfectly acceptable for our Raid Leaders to invite members outside the general family and extended alliance, but it is expected.
Group makeups can require certain builds, certain specs, and certain playstyles. It is up to each raid leader to build their own group, unify their team, and bring success to their endeavors. They may involve players from other guilds in their plans to help gain an edge on the battlefield and this is common practice. We know that there are many who are in our family wanting to raid but you simply can't have 20 mages in a raid group and successfully take down a boss. You need a mix of classes and skillsets to be able to bring forth victory and sometimes you need experienced players who have been down that road before.
Conduct
- If you at any time are rude or disrespectful to a Raid Leader you will be excused from raiding activities all together and put on the no fly list.
- Raid Leaders reserve the right to admit or deny any players access to a Raiding Activity based on class requirements, builds, or personality conflict.
- If at any time you insult another member of the family or lash out at another member of the raid you will be excused from the raiding event and a warning will be issued. Upon second offense you will be removed from the family all together. Remember Blades Out, Not In
In Closing
Please realize that we have way more participants than we have people to lead. We do our best to accommodate as many as we can but we can not possibly get everyone in every week. Be patient and please be kind to those that lead.
We want to involve those who are in it for the family, who can see past their own personal gain and reach for the betterment of the family. If you prefer a more aggressive progression raid I highly encourage you to look elsewhere as that is not how we operate.
If I did not say it before, be patient. Victory comes through learning. Learning is best taught through defeat. Sometimes you have to lose a hundred times to win. That is the natural flow of things. Remember it's those challenges that are just out of reach and seem impossible that are the ones you remember. Work together and stand united both in lose and in victory and you will thrive in the Gaiscioch raiding community.
