Greetings Everyone,
I wanted to share our little adventure plans with you all and let you know what Gaiscioch is shooting to achieve this year at the Extra Life event. Last year we had an amazing turnout that nobody could have expected. We set our target at $500 and successfully raised $8,875.01.
This year we realize our potential and have a special mission. A young 3 year old boy came to our attention through one of our members. He was born with a non-functional kidney and the other kidney is on the way out. He suffers from seizures and has been in and out of the hospital constantly. His name is Tristan and he likes planes a lot. Even through the difficult times Tristan wears a smile. From the time I first met this boy he radiated with light. Always happy even though life continues to deal him the short end of the stick.
His mom, now a member of the Gaiscioch, is a single mom working 2 jobs to try to keep her and her son afloat. She can't afford the surgeries and the first few hospitals turned her away. That's when Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon came in and decided to sponsor his care. They have helped him through the seizures, added him to the donor list and have offered to cover his expenses.
To show our thanks to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon the Gaiscioch is focusing all proceeds from the Extra Life Event to Doernbecher Children's Hospital to help cover the costs of his care, surgery and kidney replacement. We hope to raise between $10,000 and $15,000 dollars this year in hopes that we can raise enough money to cover this operation.
There is no greater loot than that of a memory and no greater achievement then allowing a 3 year old boy to have a lifetime full of them. Join us in support of this cause. There are hundreds and thousands of children out there and whether you support us, or any one of the Children's Miracle Network hospitals know that children like Tristan thank you.
