Massively.com: Elder Scrolls Online will give option to bypass starter island

The Elder Scrolls Online's beginning experience will become optional, as ZeniMax is making a significant change to allow players to skip over it entirely.

The latest build on the public test server now gives players the option to bypass the starter islands and the connected tutorial. They can do this by talking to an NPC, after which their character will be taken to a central city.

The starter zones have been subject of criticism by some press and players for being too slow and plodding. According to the patch notes, players who choose to skip it can go back and experience the starter island at their leisure.

it does not explain how they will deal with the skill points?  the first 10 levels of exp? There is a lot of crafting, mats, storyline,..... Are they just gonna  start people at 10th level and give them a present of all the skipped content points( which is like  20-25 skill points alone )?..

It kinda does on the reddit thread that's linked. "You can also now skip the starter islands and go straight to the first city in your area. You can port back to starter islands if you want." - reddit source here.

Completionists will probably take the option to be sent back or wayshrine back to pick up the skyshards and extra xp, others might not care so much and are happy to bypass it entirely. I think the 'starter island' is just Bleakrock and its equivalents, which is/was only to, what, level 5 really? Personally I never had a problem with the starter islands... I could just see doing the 'tutorial' bit in Oblivion getting old really fast if I had to do it on every character.

I really don't know why Massively even bothered putting this 'article' up. Isn't the reddit thread based on leaked patch notes? Not to mention that just because something is in a test server patch, it doesn't mean it will be there on release?

Actually the starter islands get you to about 10th. beyond if you do it all and all side quests. Not to mention the starting instance dungeon. and the half dozen public dungeons....

 I myself very much enjoyed them. I cant even imagine just....skipping all that content.  The tutorial jail... sure I can see that I guess. I mean..it takes maybe  maybe 10 mins if you even listen to it all fully. Otherwise the jail start is about 4-5 mins at most.. IDK. I guess im having a hard time understanding  the skip at all.

The starter islands are:

Ebonheart Pact - Bleakrock Isle (level 1-3) - maybe include Bal Foyen (level 4-5)

Aldmeri Dominion - Khenarthi's Roost (level 1-5)

Daggerfall Covenant - Stros M'kai (level 1-3) - maybe include Betnikh (level 4-5)

So no, I don't think they get you to 10th. You're including the higher level areas. There aren't any public dungeons in the starter area. I really think they're talking about only skipping the very first area that you're sent to when you leave Oblivion. The area where you're first introduced to side quests, so is kind of like an extension of the 'tutorial' in Oblivion.

So we are not allowed to post leaked info, but we are allowed to post a link to leaked info?  Want to be sure before I do something stupid again.  I didn't realize I was doing something wrong.

I wouldn't post a link to something Fog already remove 8 times or material known to come from a leaked source.

Edit: hard to keep up with how many times he has removed references to that leaked material.
