Greetings Everyone,
As many of you know our family has gone through quite the trial and tribulation when it comes to figuring out how best to handle our population and these tiny guild sizes. Up till now we've managed to keep rotating players into Rall without issue on a 7 Day window. Well since our announcement of ESO it seems many have come back to join us and also are joining us for the first time to get to know us and membership has boomed.
At this point we have completely filled Rall and there is a waiting list to get in. Unfortunately with the 500 person limit there's no real way we can work around this. We tried the multi-guild setup and it nearly killed our family in Guild Wars 2. We lost over 1,300 members in the first 6 months due to them feeling they could not communicate with the family, or their room was dead, or other frustrations related to that system.
What we have here is a real problem.
- If we split into 2, we can't communicate across the gap outside of RaidCall. Both rooms will have about 275 active players which is about 225 less than what all of you are used to which would make it seem like it's a dead guild.
- If we continue squeezing into Rall, there will be a line to get in. Everytime someone comes in, someone must go out. If you lapse on your logging into the website you may be waiting several days before you get back in. New invites will have to wait in line until a new spot is open and more importantly those who visit the website most will show up at the top of the invite list so if you aren't visiting regularly you will be further back in line than someone that visits every day.
- Additionally: Every time the guild hits the hard cap of 500 it clears all pending invites. Which then makes a whole other wave of irritated people.
Neither of these options i'm comfortable with. Reducing the AFK timer is an idea that's been proposed but that makes me cringe even more. I don't even want a 7 day, I can't imaging making it 5 day. There's no happy answer here and I'm sorry but in the end the family is going to feel the pain for this. Guild Wars 2's guild system, or lack there of, has been detrimental to our success here in Guild Wars 2 and I'm sorry for not being able to figure a better solution out.
Help me make something happen.
My commitment to Roger's Legacy keeps me trying to find an answer. When we asked for a server by sending mass letters to ArenaNet about it they answered with Sanctum of Rall. I feel in a last ditch effort to get ArenaNet to put their efforts into giving us the tools we need I would like to implore you to assist me in a second letter writing campaign. If our family is to survive and grow in Guild Wars 2 we must take action. So here's the plan.
- This week, take some time to write a heartfelt, polite and honest letter to ArenaNet.
- Please include the request for: Last Login on the Guild Roster, Cross Guild Communication (Alliance or Custom Chat Channels), and lastly Larger Guild Sizes.
- Mail these letters to:

Please remember that it's easier to sell with sugar than vinegar. Be respectful, honorable, kind, and most importantly ask nicely. We need to convince ArenaNet that it's a worthy investment of their time. I personally would spend 100 of my own dollars worth of Gems to get that limit raised to 1,000. This is our only option right now. Things will go bad any way we try to work this, unless we can convince ArenaNet that it is a fight worth fighting. I really don't want to see our community here be punished because it's not profitable to make these updates. Please help me convince them.
Worst Case Scenario:
In the not so distant future there will come a time when we have to decide whether we would rather have several day waiting periods to get a reinvite or invite into the family or if it would just make more sense to go back to the 2 room system and use Gaiscioch na Rall as a internal version of SORC where we can invite at the start of an event and remove after our events end. I don't know how you all feel about this but this might be our only viable option if things don't change soon. If we try the "Activities" room like we did the first time it will alienate and isolate people. We will need to make it where each person has 1 primary Gaiscioch room and then let the commanders group people up for the main family events. We have plenty of room if we split the family in 2 but then the communication barrier hurts us. I don't like any of the situations we have on our plate but I think that would be the least harmful to our community.
Deeply concerned,
Benjamin "Foghladha" Foley
