The Marketplace - A How-To Info Guide

Greetings Everyone,
There's a lot of confusion going about the Marketplace these days and I thought I'd clear up some of the air. First I'd like to cover when to use the marketplace and when not to use the marketplace. These should be pretty obvious but with so many new faces I can never be too safe. Remember, the Gaiscioch Family is about Honor, Respect, Integrity, and Fellowship. From the day you start in the family we begin conditioning you to stop putting your own personal gains first and start thinking "We" instead of "Me". Together we are strong, together we can share, together we make amazing things happen. Alone, you are limited to what "You" can do. "We" are only limited by our imagination and drive. There is nothing "We" can't do.

Proper Uses for the Marketplace

  • To Better Equip Yourself
  • To Provide An Item to A Friend
  • To Fill A Item Request
  • To Fill A Materials Request
  • To Help Improve Your Crafting Skills

What the Marketplace Should NOT Be Used For:

  • To Sell To Merchants or on the Auction Hall
  • To Pad a Friends Points

Remember, The Marketplace is here so that people can become better equipped and crafters can get resources. If you request 200 resources and turn around and sell it that's 200 resources and a ton of time gathering that just got wasted for your personal gain. This is the exact opposite of what the system was built for. Please do not request materials unless you intend to make something with them. Turning a profit by flooding the market only delays the people who actually NEED things from getting them on a quick timeframe. So you would be benefiting financially at the expense of your family. This is not a Selfless act, this is not even a Ethical act, This is the exact kind of unethical behavior that we frown upon and look to remove from the gaming experience. I ask that you only request items YOU intend to use or give to someone.

Requesting An Item

You can request an item by clicking on the Marketplace icon at the top of the page. Once on the page select from one of the many categories we have. Be sure you have at least 1 character claimed or you will not be able to request anything as there is nobody in the system to send the item to. Next to the item name you will see the Level that is required and how many Family Vault Credits are required to request the item. Choose the character you would like to have the item delivered too and then click "Submit Request". You will see a 1 appear in the "My Request" column denoting that you have requested an item. Once an item is claimed by a crafter they will have 5 days to complete the order. You should receive an email when the item has been claimed and when the item has been sent to you. (So long as your email is not Microsoft based email eg. @msn.com, @hotmail.com, etc.)

Requesting Materials

To request materials you will first need to convert Family Vault Credits into resources. At the top right of the Marketplace page you'll see a box with "Funds Available". This will tell you how many Family Vault Credits and how many Resources you currently have. Below that box you can convert each Family Vault Credit to 100 Resources. Once you have resources in your funds available you can click on "Request Materials" and place an order for the materials you need. First you will click on the header of the material type then choose the Quantity you Require. Select the character you would like it sent to and then click "Submit Request". Once an item is claimed by a crafter they will have 14 days to complete the order. You should receive an email when the item has been claimed and when the item has been sent to you. (So long as your email is not Microsoft based email eg. @msn.com, @hotmail.com, etc.)

Filling A Work Order

So your an aspiring crafter looking to earn a bit of Family Honor Points and some Contribution to boot. The Open Workorders tab is where you want to be. Here you will see all item requests organized by the crafting specialty required to create the item. If you can create the item then click "Claim Request". This will move the item to "My Workbench" where you will be able to fill the order. Once you have the order ready to ship go to "My Workbench" and send the item to the name provided under "Send Item To" and then click "Sent Item". By Clicking Sent Item you will be awarded the point value of the item and you will be able to take another request. With Each Artisan level you gain you will be able to take on one more order up to Level 20 where you can take 20 at a time. If you accidentally claim a item you can not make go to "My Workbench" and click "Cancel Claim".

Filling Materials Requests

Don't fancy the life of a crafter? Or do you just have too much surplus materials? The Materials Request section is where you can see what materials members need. By filling materials requests you can gain Resources which earn Family Vault Credits twice as fast. To fill a request simply click "Claim Request" next to the request you wish to fill. You then have 5 days to gather the necessary materials and ship them off to the "Send Item To" name provided. Once you have completed the order go to "My Workbench" and click "Sent Item". If you accidentally claim a request you can not fill go to "My Workbench" and click "Cancel Claim".

Thanks - sure cleared up my mind on the issue. Just one question.

It says that we can give Tokens of Valor for copletion of our workorders if we think the crafter did a great job. I know how to give Tokens to raid leaders, but how do I give them to artisans? thanks.

Is the Marketplace how we earn Artisan points? Specifically...providing materials through claiming materials requests earns Artisan points? ( I am a materials gatherer.)

Cedrin: I'm testing a Artisan tool that will allow you to enter items into the system with a high enough artisan level. Like always ONLY use it if you CAN pay attention to detail. We don't need half ass work in our systems. I'd rather you not put it in rather than put it in incorrectly. For now post screenshots here of what you would like us to add and Cindermist, Myself, or Lady will take care of it.

We need Polished Mahogany added as a Wood type guildies can request. I've been sending it to people and just having them request it in the Marketplace as regular Mahogany.

The marketplace is a great idea! Very useful!

Though I have a question! I am currently playing around on five different characters and only one of those characters is in this fine guild.. And for now I might keep it that way since I am an RPer and I let my individual character's RP experiences direct them towards a guild they fit in.. Ilinitha ending up in Gaisioch was completely random, and I am pleasantly surprised and thrilled! Anyways on to my point and question:

All of my characters' professions all work around eachother's so I have some of everything! (Though most are low level at the moment) What I am wondering is if I am able to use the marketplace for my other characters? For example I claimed an Apothecary workorder and filled it tonight on Ilinitha, using potions I crafted on my Cleric (who is not in this guild). Is that alright to do?

Obviously I realize flooding the marketplace with only requests for things for non-guilded characters would frowned upon.. But I have a habit of giving more than I take, so there wouldn't be a problem with me doing that anyways. Even though I only have one Gaiscioch character at the moment, all of my characters are available to help out where they can! :) I would most likely fill workorders using resources/items from all my characters, request things for my Gaiscioch character, and on occasion request something for another character.

Forgive me for the long post! I'm just trying to understand how things work so I don't step on anyone's toes accidentally! :)

Thank you for reading!

Illinitha, You earn credits for guild participation. Those credits are used to purchase items in the marketplace. As long as you have the credits, I don't see a problem with you using them for your characters. Besides filling those orders helps our crafters earn artisan credits to grow that rank in the guild.

I was testing out the tool, and I may have noticed an issue though I'm not if it is one or not.

I filled a couple materials requests, by claiming the entry, sending off the items, and them marked the claims as sent.

It does not seem that I gained any resources (value is 0) after going through the process though.

Did I miss a step or find a bug? Thanks!

Leira, the items cost you the same whether you provide the mats or not. It changes the price on the other end so the crafter doesn't get the full reward, but it uses the same number of family vault credits either way. Perhaps this is a bug?

I just tried it with a Spirit-Tempered Signet and it cost 55 FVC either way.

Atm you should only be able to claim on the sides you have characters on. The draios and myself get a lot of mails and it would be a long time before we get to it. You likely can ask around and see if you could find a broker in the family that can pass it along but you'll have trouble claiming it unless you have a toon on the roster on the other side.

Silly question from a new member. I've filled several orders in the past 2 days (to build up FVC, learn my way around, etc.), and I went to spend some of my new FVC on Tempered Orichalcum Bar to help me complete my Deathbringer set. The order shows up under 'My Orders' but it isn't appearing in the 'All Available' work-orders queue list for Mining.

Do new member requests get reviewed before being queued, or is there something not complete with my registration, or something completely different? :)

Maybe my own orders don't show up for me (they get filtered out?). I'm just curious because I've seen other orders for Tempered Orichalcum Bar get filled, but not mine...I cancelled my original and then re-submitted it to see if it was a glitch, but same result...It shows under my orders, but not in the full list. But I do see it in orders placed under Tempered Orichalcum Bar (item view), just not in the 'Mining' queue list (if any of my rambling makes sense).

Thanks for welcoming me into the family, and for walking me through these processes that are new to me.

PS - Part of my desire to join the Gaiscioch family was the organization of all these types of 'systems' and policies...great job on running the best guild I've seen.

We talking to built or to purchase.

Filling workorders limits you to 1 work order per artisan rank at a tine. Once you fill the order and click sent you'll beable to claim more.

Ordering items is limited by how many fvc you have. Plus you can only order 1 stack of materials at a time. So you can't put 2 orders for 100 tin bars until the order is filled. This prevents people from overriding the order limit for each item.

yes, you can request the CD mats on the marketplace to offset the cost. The rewards for these items are quite high. A user can choose to provide mats but that greatly reduces the reward for crafting the item.

I was asked this recently, but I wanted to post the question here for others to reference, and to have THE definitive answer:

When you request materials from the marketplace, you CANNOT turn around and sell them on the Auction to make a quick buck. By extension, requesting materials (i.e. the CD materials), using them to craft an item, and then selling the item on Auction is also considered exploiting the marketplace for personal profit.

Can I get confirmation on this?
