Several years ago back in early 2000 I had an older Nintendo that wasn't working very well. Since Nintendo of America was across the Puget Sound from me, I called them. Figured they would simply say no we don't work on those any more. However they sent a fed ex box for me to send it to them, Fed Ex came back to pick up the package, nintendo not only fixed it, they added some worn items, returned it all for free. It played well finally gave it to a neighbor boy who wanted a gaming system but couldn't afford one. I for one am definitely looking forward to this
Most definitely! I am so excited for the kids to play games that I grew up with.
I'll probably grab one, too. I'm pleasantly surprised by the great selection of games, though I would have liked it to be expandable.
I am definitely going to get this. The list of games already on there is amazing. Hopefully with the HDMI hookup, they won't have the "tearing" on the sides of the screens like with the original NES when hooked up to a new TV. That was annoying beyond all measure. I am sure it will be similar to the Genesis that was released last fall, that had something like 80 games preinstalled on it (most of them were horribly generic, like Football, Racing, etc). With that one, you could go to the website of the system manufacturer, purchase a game, load it onto an SD card (probably a micro one like in your phone), and play additional games that way. Even then, you bet your sweet kiester this will be in my home, even if you can't get more games for it (though I would be surprised if you couldn't).
I will most definitely get one to complement my original and still working system :D
I'm guessing there will be a way to purchase/load roms to it (or I sincerely hope they give it that option)
I believe Nintendo officially said there will NOT be a way to buy more games for it, possibly because of licensing headaches. Though I'd imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to mod, since most modern official ports (i.e. Sega and NeoGeo games on Steam) are just roms packaged with an emulator.
