Lately I've been finding a ton of blogs, articles, videos, etc about Guild Wars 2, and I assume that will continue. I used to post a new thread for them each time, but instead I'll just update this first post and post a reply each time I find something.
From the GW2 Guru Forums:
You are correct. My source has revealed to me some information about this particular WvWvW map. I have made some key bullet points from the information.
Quote:
•There are three teams; Blue, Red and Green
•The castle is in the centre of the map. To the north of the castle, but not visible on the released screenshot, is the Red team's base
•In order to see the darkened areas on the map, you must explore those areas
•Each team has access to a waypoint to their home base and to other significant areas of the map when you take control of them. For example the keep and castle should provide a waypoint once captured
•Supplies are used to make siege weapons. Helping out the NPCs at the Lumber and Mine camps will provide your team with these supplies
•There are small NPC towns located on the map. Helping them will enable them to aid your team. For example they will attack the enemy keeps, mines etc.

It's more what I consider informative, mainly to help avoid repetitive posts and information. There's a lot of blogs out there that just repeat what someone else has posted (in fact I'll probably have to take articles down if something more accurate pops up about any given subject). That said, you're right that I should add in GW 2 wiki, GW 2 Guru forums, and Alex Rediculous's main page and I'll do that right now.
Also added in a blog interview concerning character customization, and more up to date information on WvW.

From what I've read/studied, healing will be done as follows:
No healing class.
All classes will have self heals that have a cooldown, but it's pretty decent heal. Upwards of 20% or more. Same for everyone.
A good chunk of classes will have specialized mini heals such as the necromancer's minion sacrifice (not sure of the name). These types of heals will be minor.
A good chunk of classes will have heal over time area effects for their parties and/or allies. For example, a water elementalist can do an aoe hot for his group. These types of heals will be minor.
Some classes have damage prevention abilities/moves such as the gaurdian's many shields that prevent damage from entering. Cooldowns are fairly large, but these are great abilities for the "oh crap" situations or to help counter dmg aoe's from opposing groups.

Great find Darion. I completely agree. That does indeed looks like a WvWvW map. Looks like the 3rd server would be attacking the castle from the North/unexplored end. I'll put this up in a new category: WvWvW Info.
Went through that website a bit more. Seems the original author has piecemealed a few released GW2 maps together to form an overall Tyria map. Put that link in as well as "Map of Tyria GW2."
EDIT: Found a really good description of the WvWvW map itself. And from what I can deduce, the Green side is kicking some serious booty, holding most of their territory and some of which should belong to the Blue team. Red team is absent from the Screenshot, but I'm guessing either they're just hidden by Fog of War up north, or they didn't have anyone playing the Red team for this map for the test period.

Just found out something sad.
There is officially no bodyblocking... (which of course means anything that prevents movement is THAT much more important like the Guardian barriers/shields.)
Good news I found a PvP Compendium of info thus far. I put the link in the 1st post as "GW2: PvP Systems, Information Summary & Compendium."
This game looks so epic.
To me its like Warhammer with less bugs and such, my favorite things to look forward to are the need for a community and the PvP/Class system.

Oh I wouldn't assume it'll be bug free when it releases. In fact, I'm sure it'll have just as many issues as Warhammer at release. Any major mmo typically does. I do expect Arenanet to fix them faster though; just don't get your hopes up for a bug free mmo release. Never has happened.
Well yes it will have some bugs but they'll probably get squashed pretty fast.
Game is already reminding me of War's PvP which should be fun. But if your above post is true kinda said theirs no body blocking or whatever they call it, that always comes in handy.
It's my hope that with them not using player collision, that means they will be utilizing skills instead. Such as the warriors shield block, or the guardian's bubble to act as a road block rather than a 'meat shield'. While tank walls in WAR did prove to have some fun strategies behind it, I never felt it was all that realistic.
If they do in fact go with a skill based road block, I think this will force people to be a bit more on the ball when forming up tank walls, and keep them on their toes. It also gives the enemy a shot at finding their 'weakest link' in the wall. Who knows, there may not even be a need for tank walls in GW2 considering they want to keep the action pretty fast paced and interactive/reactive. It'll be fun coming up with some complex new strategies to make up for lack of player collision regardless.

Hey Rune,
If you're talking about PAX Prime in Seattle, I am pushing for us to try the tourney out, at least to see what pvp is like in GW.
As far as tourney play in GW2 once it's released...
Judging from how we did things in Warhammer, it won't be our primary target. That will probably be WvWvW, but with that said, we will definitely have players that want to do it I'm sure.
Personally, like in Warhammer, I'm a more WvWvW player.
Ugh I need some of this game peeeveeeepeeeee pleeeaaasssse!
The floor you walk on is smooth, there is no ground there, Magic begins with blood. Outside there are trees with Concrete under their roots, But I have passed the tombs of Kings, I have scoured the seas for miles, my fingertips opening accepting my time. Tomorrow, I will walk the streets and steal myself from the familiar, your eyes will not settle, a hunger. You'd be happier in your grave.. When we meet, share stories you stretch me. For me I'm your sorrow calling in your dreams, for me I'm your shadow howling in the streets.
Also more of a WvWvW player here too. I'm (still) leaning toward Necromancer. BTW, this is a good resource for the necro folk, and a decent source of general GW2 info. It's a candidate for the blogs listing in the first post:

Now i like to questions this statement Zerona how did it not feel realistic? In actual combat your can't just go threw your opponet or comrade you stand shroulder to shoulder with them and there body block passage.

Added Asuran Battlesuit blog post.
Sweetness though...an racial skill you can use in WvWvW, just not the competitive pvp. Probably means the other racials skills will be available in WvW...hooray. Here's still hoping that the Norn snow leopard form can stealth.
And an Asuran can summon his suit and someone else can use it?
Bad MF'er. A large group of these coming towards ya would be pretty sweet to see...
Looks like my traditional red-bearded Dwarf will be getting replaced with a little elf-goblin for Guild Wars 2. I'm definately seeing an Asura Engineer in my future.
I'm a little concerned by the potential "completely unbalanced" nature of WvWvW. At first, I had simply assumed that WvWvW would be the same as the competative PvP, with the imbalance simply being a case of unpredictable population numbers in the open field. The Golem availability to WvWvW but not competative PvP seems to indicate the imbalances might potentially be a bit more pronounced. Will be interesting to see what GW2 have in store.
Im sure there will be imbalances like there always is in PvP games. But theyll probably be fixed with nerfs and buffs like always, not the best fix but ehh..
Cant wait to see what the PvP is like in this game with no "healers", should be interesting.
Edit: Im a computer noob but, wont having 3 servers fighting at once cause MASSIVE lag?
Banning racials in the competitive PvP doesn't mean they will be imbalanced necessarily. It just implies they want to make sure race isn't a factor in competitive PvP. This way they only have to think about internal class combos for that setting where min/maxing inevitably leads to a more fragile balance than in the more casual play. Just ask the rift developers how hard it is to balance a game once you start piling up combinations. While you're at it, you can ask them what happened when they gave mildly interesting racials to players. Actually, I'll answer that one, the complaining was so loud, that they eventually watered them down to be pointless, then disabled them in any context where they would be useful.
p.s. the Mathosian hibernate ability is still one of the dumbest things thought of by a dev ever.
I guess it's been pretty sleepy on the GW2 front. Here's another good blog I've found - check it out Vampire and see if you'd like to add it to the list:
I LOVE the water combat! Especially when you dont have to worry about drowning! That totally makes exploration so much more fun. One of my fav. parts in RIFT was finding the treasure in Lake Solace as well as finding that barrel in Moonshea Highlands that was a simple find and return quest.
@Clanorton - "Now i like to questions this statement Zerona how did it not feel realistic? In actual combat your can't just go threw your opponet or comrade you stand shroulder to shoulder with them and there body block passage."
Wow, missed this one all together, I'm so sorry for the long delay.
It's more about how it tends to be handled in games that makes it feel unrealistic. WAR for example, you'd have wars with no shield taking nukes(casters) and arrows to the face. It's the whole meat shield thing that bothers me. I feel you should actually have to make efforts to defend with skills rather than just stand there and be a road block.
And to be fair, in real combat, you can push them down, shove them aside, take their legs out from under them, or even throw them, they aren't a brick wall. Obviously games have to have limitations otherwise things would get crazy, both for game play reasons and coding. But I'm in complete 100% support of having to actively use skills to hold off attacks, or form tank walls, it requires more effort, and just feels more realistic than just blocking someone's way by standing there as a meat shield.
"Friends are the family you choose."
"You don't command an army, you lead it by example."
I just read this and it's REALLY gotten me pumped for the game now.
As for WvWvW? I have actually done something similar to this a very long time ago. It was in a mmorpg called Knights Online. Although it was only WvW and Faction V Faction. In which the victor was able to invade the defeated factions territory. Same sort of idea. Take control of points and battle your way through enemy defenses. It took place 2-3 times a week and had no amount of players limit. Hundreds upon hundreds of players battling it out. And even then it was the organized guilds that were almost always the turning point in the battles. ( Actually felt like mid-evil all out war.) I can very easily see our family playing a major part in these battles in GW2. However GW2 looks to be a lot more involved and awesome.
Knights Online in itself was a horrible game but the world verses world and faction verses faction epic sized battles were fantastic. I have never found any thing like it in any other game. Even the battlegrounds of WoW failed to even remotely compare. At first it was a bit overwhelming. To look out over a vast field and see hundreds of players locked in a battle to the death and think how the hell am I going to make it to the next defensive block... let alone to the final General, three fortresses away. But once I dove in and got my feet wet it was the most fun I ever had online.
I am really really looking forward to doing this with the family. The event we do every Saturday night in Rift ( Telara's Last Stand ) is going to help us out a lot in GW2. As far as getting organized and following directions. It's going to be vital in WvWvW if it's any thing like it was in Knights Online.
Couldn't agree more about the potential of PvP in this game. The abilities may seem dramatically limited, but at the same time there seems to be so much more tactical potential within those few abilities on offer.
Thus far, everything about this game is impressing me.
* The art style.
* The animation.
* The sheer scale of those cities (and that they will clearly all be there for release).
* The "Dodge" mechanic that makes combat seem so much more interactive.
* That "Levelling" will be more or less redundant, and that with upscaling and downscaling early content might remain challenging and relevant.
* That the appearance of weapons as well as armour will be customisable.
* That Dynamic Events are the natural and logical evolution from the Public Quest system of WAR, to the Rift/Invasion system of Rift. Entire NPC factions, each actively playing out their invasion plans in real-time, instead of mulling about and waiting for you to come thwart them.
* The ellimination of the Holy Trinity. WAR sort of promised this but never really delivered. I love the potential that whatever role I choose, I might be useful and relevant for every situation (in my classes own unique style).
* And of course the promise of a return to mass PvP. Only 4 maps on offer seems a little limited, but I can see plenty of potential for future new maps or expansion, and the 3-way system they have in place that forces the two underdogs to gang-up on the dominant force has me rather excited (not having experienced Dark Age of Camelot).
All up, Guild Wars 2 is looking to be a real winner, provided Anet and NCsoft can pull it off. By far the biggest test will be their server capacity to handle huge volumes of people all working towards the same goal, without disappearing toons, crippling lag or server crashes.
"When will there be a beta?
We will be conducting small closed alpha and beta tests in 2011. The feedback from these tests will determine when we will do public beta tests and ship the game. Guild Wars 2 is a very large and ambitious game, and Guild Wars players rightfully have very high expectations. We want players to be absolutely blown away by the game the first time they experience it."
Although I normally suck at PVP, I cant wait to try out. I remember trying to use real strat in WoW pvp/bg's and having people laugh. With WvWvW it and Gaiscioch it sounds like a real warlike pvp can happen. Now I just need to train myself in GW2 warrior mechanics so I dont suck as bad. lol
by the way loved the Sun Tzu artical there vamp. Makes me want to dig my copy out and re-read it.

I wish they would just feed us a bigger morsel on the development side than the grawls after nearly a month of silence. Don't get me wrong I want them to take their time to make it the best release they can, but at the same time I'm chomping at the bit for something to play. In the meantime I'm helping Drake recover his lost fortunes and maybe DCUO when it eventually goes f2p on the PS3.
I am also eagerly looking forward to GW2. For months I've been reading about it and watching every video I can find on YouTube... I was a bit sad to hear it won't be released until 2012 but I understand wanting to get it right.
Top 5 reasons I will definitely be playing this game.
1. It has Thieves not rogues!
2. Competitive PvP without gear wrecking it.
3. WvWvW
4. Deep crafting system
5. IT HAS THIEVES!
I'm somewhat curious now that WoW has released their "new" class/talent system if they somehow borrowed that thought from GW2 with their class development. I can't remember the site but I thought I saw a similar talent breakdown for GW2. Vamp or anyone else that saw GW2 in person can you confirm or clarify how GW2 is doing their class trainings?
From what I know of GW2, WOW set up their new version of Talents about the same the here is your talents chose 1 of each type, and talents are now learned not trained. Granted this all might change depending on all the QQing WoWer's are prone to. From looking at the talents WoW released at Blizzcon, there is still alot of tweeking needed. Thought GW2 has more of a three way system then WoWs two way. GW2 has Weapon skills, Learned from the weapon your using, and only availible to you when useing that weapon or set of wapons. The class skills, like WoW that comes with the class you are playing. Then the Utility skills that you get to pick and choose from again both game seem similiar. (Well if WoW follows throw with the change) This is how I see it from the little I know of GW2, and from what WoW stated at Blizzcon. Vamp had some links at the bottom of his first post that lets you play around a bit with the talents action bars for GW2. (Also WoW will still let you put every talent/skill on your UI if you have the buttons for it) If I have some thing wrong let me know, most of my info on GW2 is from youtube vids, and forum post so they may not be correct.
here is a link to what Blizzard has out atm for talents, I didn't see a list of the class talents that you get automaticly for lvling
WOW is the original clone. It has pieces of every major title in the last 7 years put into it. Every time a new game comes out wow incorporates whatever they have to offer into their game. However WOW does not have 3 Realm Combat, a free dodge movement system, or mix and match recipes like Morrowind. Honestly I can do without kung fu panda's and pokemons in my MMO. Eligium announces a playable panda race at GamesCon this year and what do you know October comes and the Panda race in wow is announced, just a few months later. They should rename WOW XEROX.
@Fog, I totally agree. I found it simply ironic that GW2 showed their new system and Blizz is making these (what I deem) radical changes to their gameplay development. Personally I wonder if that's the very reason why GW2 has been holding back with their announcement and news. I can't wait for GW2 to come out.
I am also wondering when this is going to be announced for release. When I checked at pre ordering the release date is still November this year. I know thats not possible.
I remember when we were beta testing WAR Onlines Tome of Knowledge. Low and Behold as soon as Blizzard got wind of it, their poor attempt at a copy was made with their achievement system. Oh how I miss the TOK.
Blizzard have never been original. They earned their place in the gaming world by taking successful ideas from other games and polishing it up into something amazing. Unfortunately, in the case of World of Warcraft, this has developed into copying in things they know very little about from as yet unreleased games that the original WoW game was never initially designed for, and at a rushed pace to match the release of whatever great innovation another game has already spent years developing and perfecting.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if every single innovation added to World of Warcraft after the initial release conveniently happened to correspond to a primary feature of another game released around the same time.

I'd already planned on playing a mesmer if and when they ever announced it as a playable class, which they finally have. So yes, I'll be playing mesmer, it may even be my main.
I played a mesmer pretty heavily in Guild Wars 1, a -lot- in PvP mostly, but I always had a couple mesmer hero's running with me at all times in PvE.
Current line up for me is: Sylvari Mesmer, Sylvari Warrior, Asura Ranger, and an Engi, race now undecided.
I can't help fight off the excitement now that they announced the beta to start this Friday.

Mesmer will be pretty hard to resist. Looks really fun to play and frustrating to face. So many tactical options. I can see severe cases of alt-itis in all our futures.
I have a feeling we may have even just seen the next Foghladha - Good class for hanging back and keeping an eye on the battlefield, the ability to cloak allies for an ambush and even an ability to teleport allies to a pre-determined position. There's even clones so Ben could literally be in multiple places at once (and confuse the inevitable head-hunters that come for him).

I'm favoring the Guardian, but I might do the warrior. Depends a lot on play style and armor sets. I'm a sucker for a good looking armor set. It's ultimately how I chose Warrior Priest over Knight of the Blazing Sun.
It looks like Guild Wars 2 is going into "Closed Beta Today" http://bit.ly/vE46Uf But don't get your hopes up. It's not open to the public yet, but if you know anyone who works for arena net you might want to suck up to them!
Despite how desperately I want to play GW2.. I'd much rather they just stick to closed beta, so they can keep a focused team of testers that are there to test the game, rather than just to get in sooner. It means it releases even more polished than it already is, and possibly faster.
I just hope they do the whole early access a lot of other games have been doing lately. If this game lives up to even -half- of it's claims, and puts out as many expansions(or more) as they first one did... This may very well be my permanent home.

I've played WoW since 2006. Pandarens have always been mentioned and hoped for as a playable race. Players have begged for it and been disappointed each xpac. Glad its finally here.
GW2 is only a PvP game? Is that the main focus? If so no way will I get it. :(
No Astraiel. GW2 is a multi-facet game. You can level up from 1 - 80 doing Crafting only if you wanted too.
Thier objective was to make a game that allowed players to play the way they wanted and to enjoy the game to the same level. So that a PvPer would never have to PvE to compete and a PvEr would never have to PvP to advance. A crafter would not have to dungeon crawl. Every arm of this game is independent so that you do what you enjoy doing. I read an interview where you have 8 dungeons and each dungeon has a story mode and a 3 Exploration Modes which are very tactic/skill required. Which puts 32 Dungeons in the game at launch each with their own storyline behind them. To me that says theres going to be a ton of PvE content. Remember Guild Wars 1 was known for it's PvP Competitions but there was a TON of PVE content even more so than the PvP content. I'd expect the same.
Best word of advice. Don't rule it our on Assumptions. Wait till you see it in action. The PvE content I've seen already at PAX would blow your mind. The worst thing about touching this game at Pax 2 years ago is it's like your mom showing you your christmas present in August and sticking it above the christmas tree and then saying you cant have it till christmas. You wait and you wait and cant wait to play with it again.
My bet is near PAX. I'm betting they want a homefield advantage to own that show one last time with a launch. But really who knows. Being their in beta I doubt it would be more than a year.

Why is that sad? More information is good! :) Unfortunately, it's pretty much a given at this point that the game is still several months away from release.
I've been thinking that they're holding back on WvW info until they have it as nearly perfect as possible. Which can probably only be accomplished with greater numbers of players participating and really focusing on testing WvW. Which sounds like a perfect job for some Gaiscioch! ;)
I seriously doubt we'll see anything until PAX 2012. My bet is they launch with home field advantage and steal the show. I don't mind them taking their time to do it right. If they need another year to work on it then take that year but make sure that it's awesome at launch. I'd rather them not rush some slapped together game like Warhammer out the door. We plan to live there 5 - 10 years so they really need to make sure the longevity is in place and they don't burn people out the gate.
I plan on making this our social community hub that we can branch all activities out of. So people can go play SWTOR or RIFT or anything else and still have a place to call home without a monthly sub. It's going to be great.

Only thing I don't like about Anet/GW2 is that they refuse to tell anyone the release date.
Edit: Can anyone post some good HQ videos of some Theif/Ranger/anything PvP!? All I can find on youtube are people video'ing their screens with handheld cameras talking about how cool they think the game will be. Cant find any good PvP videos just to see the moves and styles of the theif/ranger. Can't decide which to play at release.:(
Not having a release date is fine by me. It generally means the game is not anywhere near a finished state. The Cynical Brit has some good PvP videos on the thief in one of the arena's though.
^^ Yeah it is pretty cool! Just read it today and I am wondering how chaotic the battlefield will be and I am wondering how low end cpus will do with all the projectiles and particles?
^^^I read somewhere that they are testing their game on machines that are around 6 years old. Apparently this is unheard of because most games only run on machines less than 4 years old, and the fact that they are testing their own game on machines 6+ years old means it will probably play on lower end machines.
This is all speculation though so, we can only hope for the best!

I read an article last night and watched a dev video on youtube that said the map limit will be 500 and entire WvW will be close to 2000. I think if they have servers that can handle that load it will be EPIC. Like the DAOC days EPIC.
Dev said they want as many from your world to participate as possible.
Edit:
Reading on how the WvW will be, IF the guild is serious about this we will need dedicated teams for it. There are gathering stations, crafting stations, etc.
The more you occupy the more points and faster you can build siege weapons and get power ups.
With a guild our size, I believe early on we can dominate and establish our stake, so when other teams from other worlds see they are up against us they know they better be on their game or prepare for the coming beat down. =)
oh sweet they upped the limit to 500 per map? Before the beta I remember seeing devs posts that the limit would be like 200-300 per map if we were lucky. Sweeeeeet.
Now the only OTHER thing im worried about is that our server will roll everyone and then tons of people will transfer to it. Whatever, itll still be aweeeeeeeeeeesssssssssommeeeeeeeeee.
Btw does anyone have any extra beta keys.. I heard they taped them under the seats at pax or something but then forgot to mention it at the end so they gave a bunch out at the door but then some people realized they were under the seats and grabbed as many as they could. Some guy on reddit had over 60 beta keys to give out, sadly I did not get one though. If you do could you email it to bradyj96@gmail.com or something. <3
