Been wanting to recompile a short list for myself because its a bit confusing for me on dulfy's site.

(Ring upgrade at bottom)

Stage 1. (Buy from dungeon vendor)

Prototype Fractal Capacitor

Cost:

1350 fractal relics

Stage 2. (Create in Mystic Forge)

(Ascended) Prototype Fractal Capacitor

Cost:

Offensive: Stage 1 + 1 Gift of Ascension + 40 crystals + 1 vial of condensed Mists Essence

Defensive: Stage 1 + 1 Gift of Ascension + 240 Phil's Stone + 1 vial of condensed Mists Essence

(Gift of Ascension = 500 fractal relics)

Stage 3. (Create in Mystic Forge)

(Infused) Beta Fractal Capacitor

Cost:

Stage 2 + 1 Gift of Ascension + 250 Glob of Ectoplasm + 1 Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence

(Coagulated Mists Essence = drop at lv10+ or 5 vial of cond. mists + 1 Mystic Coin + 1 Glob of Ecto + 1 Fractal Relic)

Stage 4. (Create in Mystic Forge)

(Infused) Fractal Capacitor

Cost:

Stage 3 + 250 Glob of Ectoplasm + Gift of Ascensoin + Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence

(Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence = drop at lv20+ or 5 glob of coag. mists + 1 Mystic Coin + 1 Fractal Relic)

Summary:

In total you would need:

2850 Fractal Relics

500 Glob of Ectoplasm

40 crystals / 240 Philosopher's Stone

1 Vial of Condensed Mists Essence

1 Glob of Coagulated Mists Essence

1 Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence

Seems like Stage 3 and Stage 4 have same stats, just appearence difference, see stage 4 appearence at:

http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/fractal_capacitor.jpg

http://dulfy.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/gw2_fractal_capacitor_5.jpg

Note this is only a list for the dungeon back piece, and not on other craftable backpieces or additional crafteble  Infusions

Additional Note:

To DOWNGRADE ascended materials (shards, globs and vials):

1 Upper Tier + 1 Mystic Coin + 1 Fractal Relic + 1 Master Salvage Kit = 3 of lower tier.

To UPGRADE acended rings to (Infused)  <- 5 built-in agony resist:

Infused ring = 1 Shards + 3 Globs (ain't your orange ones) + 5 Vials + Non infused ring

Holy chits, what an investment for a backpiece!

Thanks for putting together this info...it does look pretty sweet. I envision that fitting in really well on an Asuran Elementalist or Guardian (which seems appropriate, I suppose, given the way we enter the fractals).

@ Dirkdaring

It's not as bad as you think, first of all stage 4 and stage 3 have same stats, so you only need to spend 500 if you want the looks ( and even in real life the price you pay for looks are high ), so its not really in an unreasonable state where its pay to win, or you need to grind endlessly for better gear drops

As for agony resistance, you can totally ignore the back piece, just get 2 rings doing you dailies from lv 10-19 and you can have 10 agony resist with just 150 fractal relics, which will be enough for you to do your run in the 20s, which then can get you 2 rings with maximum resist of 20 (having 2 rings), with that you can progress even further again

by the time you need the back piece (resist 25-30), you already will have enough tokens to get it

I'm kind of with Dirk on this one. ArenaNet is nerfing open world content more and more every week, while making dungeons more profitable and almost a "must do" now if you want gold and items.

The "must need" to run dungeons is one of the reasons I've eventually stopped playing, well ,every other MMO out there. Its great for you folks that love to farm dungeons, but for those of us who do not like dungeons and prefer open world, its very disappointing to see Anet breaking pre-release promises and moving down this path.

@ Sekkerhund

What don't you like about dungeons? is there a way you can see yourself liking it if something was different? When I saw your post it made me think about when I was playing Skyrim, a lot of caves in there were kind of "dungeon"-ish but I could do it alone at my own pace, and those were kind of fun

I agree with you on the open world content, the reason I had to go do dungeons in the first place was because i couldn't get charged lodestone anywhere (i was farming sparks for days in orr back then), and got them easily in dungeons

But since dungeons are harder, its unreasonable to not give a bit more reward than open world which is ultimately really easy.. so I am not sure if a solution is to introduce some instances unique to the open world but only allows the entry of 1 player..? (or something, since i can only imagine people don't like dungeons because its notn something you can do by yourself)

And have you check out minidungeons? I never went and try one completely yet, but I was wondering if that a way Anet gives open world some good loot or what not, because otherwise the dragon chests only gives trash and is boring to do...

I guess its a thing of i`ve already been there done that thing .

If i was still into doiong pve it might be fun but i was already the uber endgame raider from 1999 - 2005 in EQ as well as raided in wow first 2 years of that game ,

only time i do a dungeon now is if it will help me kill the enemy in RvR like farming darkness falls in daoc and the endless tomb of the vultrue king farm in Warhammer .

main reason i bought this game was it was not a gear grind unless you wanted a certain skin
and it was the closest to DAOC RvR out there ,

I already chased that carrot for the last 13 years wasn`t planning on doing it here as well . esp since they stated they would not have a verticle progession gear grind which is where this game is going ,

all the while they keep nerfing every aspect of the game to force you into dungeons and the cash store lol .

i haven`t been in a dung yet and don`t plan on doing so nor have i used the cash store , but from reading the last post by the devs it is aparant where the game is going .

the issue isn`t that rewards for doing instanced dungeon content is better then other stuff , i know all about that having been hardcore raider for 8 years always waiting for the next expansion so we could get the next best raid gear ,

Its the fact that the game was not supposed to have a gear treadmill , all the gear at endgame was supposed to be about the same except for ledgendary items . the only difference was supposed to be the skin .

We'll have to wait till the next big update to see if the game is really going in that direction, so far they haven't introduced enough gear that is better than exotics to interest me in the topic

Maybe it was a mistake for them to have made the fractal gears with slightly better stats, as trivial as it can be, they introduced some gear progression, and admit doing so :s

And that's why MOBA style is such an attractive gameplay too, it provides a time sink without needing gear progression, but GW2... ppl got nothing to do at 80 with full exotics.. except skin hunting or doing RvR (which i dont find really fun at all)
