Raidcall - Setting up Overlay in GW2

Hi guys, I have some reasons to believe that overlay "currently" does not work properly in Guild Wars 2 (when you hit Shift + Tab in game) for Raid Call

Anyway, it can be manually configurated, first open the "config" document in the "flash" folder with "notepad"

(located at where you installed Raidcall, for instance: C:\Program Files (x86)\RaidCall\flash\)

Then simply add in the appropriate line for GW2 as well:

<olConfigItem gameName = "Guild Wars2" processName = "Gw2.exe" cursor = "" autoStart="0" >
<olWnd flash = "XOverlayMainLoader.swf" autofit = "1"></olWnd>
<env disableIME="1" > </env>
</olConfigItem>

Then when you press Shift + Tab, Raidcall should appear properly in game:

***If you run into access denied issues,

you can try to copy the config file to your desktop first, then alter it there and as you save, save as "config.xml" (quotation marks included in the naming)

if all goes well you should get an updated config.xml in the right format, then you can drag it back in to its folder

***Note that once a while RaidCall Updates and the change to the text file will get a reset, therefore you need to add in the lines again for it to work, again.

(This post use to have some photos but the links were broken, I think the text explanation should suffice though!)

Added, I'll see how it works when I load up the game tonight. Thanks for figuring it out! I'm sure official support isn't far behind.

Additionally, while it may be obvious to some, you have to edit this file as admin, or change the permissions of the file so you can re-save it.

Wow, THANKS. This was my biggest concern with RaidCall -- no overlay. I did try it (without your mod) in the stress test on Wed night... didn't work for me. Hopefully this works (and the overlay looks good)!

Update: On the "looks good" front, the reason I want the overlay is so I can see who is talking. If the picture at the bottom of the OP is the overlay it looks like it doesn't provide that info. I'll fool with it to see if I can configure that option.

I have troubles reading the text. Any way to get that in a text format I can just copy and paste into the folde? I would appreciate that a ton!

I tried doing this config file edit to get the overlay with Rift. But no luck. It displays but doesn't function after that. Just sits there and won't even toggle away.

sorry, I don't know how to fix it, if this happens in GW2 as well then maybe the overlay function for Raidcall just isn't that flexible at the moment..

I know a lot of people have functional Raidcall in GW2, but they run into troubles where it makes the interface flicker...

There is a security warning every time I launch it and it doesn't remember where I left it on the screen when re-opened either.

if you add another group with Rift instead of Guild Wars 2 and rift.exe instead of gw2.exe

Then the overlay works for Rift as well. Was using it little while ago

So here goes a really crazy question. When I first go to the file config and click on it, it is not editable. So I right click and see the edit and click it, it opens in notepad. I edit it and click save.

Now I get all the way out go back in game and click shift + tab and nothing. Here is the question....

I go back to the file config and click it to make sure it is right and nothing is there? What did I do wrong?

I have the overlay working, but it seems to randomly freeze my game. Everything else works but I can't tab out of the game and ctrl alt del doesn't seem to pop up either. Does this happen to anyone else or just my old pc?

Thanks for the instructions. I had no issues in setting it up. However I did use Notepad and saved it as a text file with .xml ending. I heard someone in RC mentioning they had issues when they had the file type wrong.

No luck here. Anyone know any other tricks to get the overlay working? Nothing happens when I hit the overlay key while I have GW2 running.

I've edited the config file multiple times. NO luck. I've tried downloading the config file again, still with no luck. I checked I have the latest version of Flash installed.

Anything else I might try to get the overlay working? I'd love to be able to see who's talking.

Thanks for any help!

Exit RaidCall and edit the RaidCall\flash\config.xml file as mentioned in the first post. After saving the file, right click and view properties (Win7). Select the "Security" tab:

Select "Authenticated Users" and press the "Edit" button. Check "Full Control" and press the "Apply" button then the "OK" button.
Select "Users" and press the "Edit" button. Check "Full Control" and press the "Apply" button then the "OK" button.

press the "Apply" button (if active) then the "OK" button.

If the editing in step one was done properly, it should work when you Shft+Tab.

For those having Overlay issues and have an OSD Server running such as EVGA Precision (The OSD Server, not the actual application) or MSI Afterburner (OSD Server, not the application) running (This fixed my Overlay for Raidcall):

Go into Settings, then OSD Settings.

Look for Toggle On-Screen Display Server Blocking and set a hotkey for it.

Before Launching Raidcall or GW2, use that hotkey and make sure the OSD Server is off (Rivatuner for MSI (or similar), EVGA On Screen Display Server for EVGA)

After doing that, Launch Raidcall and GW2, and click your overlay hotkey.

The other way (I have not tried this yet) is to go to Rivatuner Statistics Module (or EVGA On-Screen Display Server as EVGA calls it) and Change On-screen Display Support Off.

I also have not tried Stealth Mode to see if that could resolve it either.

How I found it:

I noticed it looked into my EVGA Precision OSD Server Folder, and then it clicked. The OSD MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision use, Hooks into the game the same way Raidcall's overlay does.

If you have any questions, let me know, I can try and walk you through it (I use EVGA Precision X, so it may be completely different than MSI Afterburner).
