Caster Nightblade - "The Warlock" - DPS/Debuff/Heals

This is a Nightblade caster build, focused on damaging and crippling enemies, while providing some health to allies. It is capable of both substantial DPS as well as some healing. This is probably one of the more outlandish builds I have come up with. :)

I must admit, this one has me really intrigued. I hope you enjoy the read!

---------------

Race: Any – Any race can work for this build, though some will be stronger than others. I myself will be an Argonian.

Base Class: Nightblade

Weapons: Destruction Staff/Restoration Staff

Armor: 7 Light Magicka Regen and Spell cost reduction are very important

Attributes: 29 Health, 20 Magicka, 0 Stamina

The Warlock uses mainly magicka for skills. Points should be invested mostly into Magicka at early levels.

Mundus Stone: The Mage, The Ritual or The Apprentice

The Mage increases max magicka, The Ritual raises healing effectiveness, and The Apprentice raises spell penetration. If you are already at the Magicka soft cap, go with one of the other two

Guild Rank Requirements: Undaunted – Rank 4

Build ESOHead Link

Bar 1 – Destruction/Control

Slot 1-1: Crushing ShockDamages and can apply secondary effects. Interrupts and stuns spellcasters.

Slot 1-2: PulsarShort range AOE damage based on staff type, Lowers enemy’s max health by 10%.

Slot 1-3: Power ExtractionShort range AOE, increases weapon damage based on the number of enemies hit. This effect increases the damage of crushing shock and pulsar.

Slot 1-4: Mass HysteriaCauses fear in 2 nearby enemies and lowers their power and movement speed. A very fun spell.

Slot 1-5: Siphoning attacks – All attacks regen magicka and stamina, but lowers damage done. Can be toggled on or off.

Slot 1-U: Soul TetherHigh short range AOE damage and 4.5 second stun. Absolutely devastating. Also places a heavy DOT effect on the closest enemy.

Bar 2 – Restoration/Support

Slot 2-1: Mutagenregenerates health for 2 allies. Instantly heals if ally drops below 20% health

Slot 2-2: Funnel Healthdamages enemy and heals caster and 2 nearby allies for 25% of the damage caused

Slot 2-3: Ward Ally - Shields yourself and your lowest health ally from damage.

Slot 2-4: Bone SurgeUndaunted ability. Increases armor for 6 seconds. Nearby allies can gain spell power and a damage absorb shield if they use the synergy. Uses stamina to cast.

Slot 2-5: Siphoning attacks – All attacks regen magicka and stamina, but lowers damage done. Can be toggled on or off.

Slot 2-U: Bolstering DarknessSnares nearby enemies for 70%, lowers damage that allies take, and also heals and grants them invisibility. Amazing skill.

Passive Skills:

Light Armor - All Passives

Destruction Staff - All Passives

Restoration Staff - All Passives

Siphoning All Passives

Assassination – None

Shadow – Refreshing Shadows, Dark Veil

Racial - All Passives

Total skill points: 74

Edited - Replaced skills in order to have Siphoning Attacks on both bars for magicka management.

I played with a similar build but called it more of a Necro since I Summon Shades and I didn't heal with the resto staff.  I used various weapons but always had the destro staff equipped.  I also mixed light and medium armor.

Interesting concept - will have to look into the Resto staff more and maybe put it into my line up.

I started leveling this guy last night. It's been pretty painless and fun so far, at level 7.

I've dumped everything into Magicka, and i'm using strife, destructive touch, agony, veiled blade, and assassin's blade, to make sure all the skill lines are leveled up.

Agony works very well to keep melee enemies off me while i take out the ranged, and strife does a good job of keeping my health from going down too quickly.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this build progresses. I will probably change out skills a lot as I level to see what works best.

Why go with refreshing shadows? Stamina regen isn't terribly important for casters, unless you are using it to run?

The Refreshing Shadows passive is not terribly important. The only skill that uses it is Bone Surge.

However, keep in mind that stamina is not only used for sprinting, but all roll dodge, which can be pretty important in some fights and AVA.

How goes the fight?  I've been working on my version of the Warlock.  Jury is still out.

This has been my main since the start of the game I have two of them so far. I call mine a Shadow Priest because she uses a resto staff and heals as her secondary. She is primarily shadow rather than siphoning although she uses the main spell siphon to heal and kill. In PVE this class is absolutely deadly. I rarely die and can take on world bosses solo with ease. The class is so easy to play I have at times gotten bored with her but I still love her dearly. It is my favorite class to play. I have not tested her PVE. She may be worthless. I use primarily light armor. Warlock and Seducer mixed for maximum Mana. I rarely run out. This class is definitely worth trying.

My main is now (for this month) my NB "Warlock" using Resto/Bow.    I have all syphon skills with the Resto staff except for one heal.   So I have

* Regen. Crippling grasp, Prolonged suffering (which I will change out with Silver Shards as needed), Funnel Health, and Dark Shades.

with the Bow I use:

*Poison Arrow, Trap Beast, Volcanic Rune, Funnel Health, and Manifestation of Terror.

Sometimes I will swap out the Resto Staff for Destro and go with Frost Reach - if truth be told I like it more than the Resto Staff when solo as Frost reach locks the target down and I seldom really need to heal myself but resto is nice in a group.

I believe in crowd control and DOTs and a casting NB - especially with traps and fear - has that in spades!

When I get surprised by mobs it will appear to the casual observer that I am running away screaming - but I am actually setting traps that I will then circle back through (as they take 4 secs to arm) and then have my way with the beasts that were silly enough to disrespect me :)

I use the same set up for AvA basically since I hate swapping out skills as I confuse myself easily :( so I stick with what I have been practicing with.

I play an Argonian siphoning nightblade. I nicknamed it the "Twight Seducer" build, after the equipment set pieces it combines. Every passive synergizes with two or three others.

I take resto/resto with Inner Light, Swallow Soul, Shadowy Cloak, and Siphoning Attack on both bars.  The fifth skill and the ultimate skill are usually Healing Ward and Soul Tether on the "extra heals" bar, and Piercing Mark or Mirage and Incapacitating Strike on the "crit rate" bar.

7 pieces light armor.  5 pieces 7 seducer, 3 pieces twilight.  All  mackiga and magicka regen runes.  Potion is usually Lady's Smock + Cornflower + Water Hyacinth for lots more magicka and spell damage.

Passives from Racial, Siphoning, Alchemy, light armor, resto staff, and seducer & twilight passives all synergize nicely to keep the magicka, self-heals, and spam-attacks flowing at a long range and instant cast time.  Shadowy Cloak is an escape or ambush that can spam repeatedly with all the magicka in the build, and purge the conditions off, too.
