Always ask. Depending on the time of day or if something major is going on it may take a bit for an answer, but most times not. =) Getting on Gamevox helps a lot with communicating and definitely faster than typing.
Your character is definitely in the right place for us to start dragging you along on some fun. Keep your eye on the calendar for planned events and your eyes open on guild chat for impromptu groupings as well as ears open on Gamevox.
I have a templar that I do DPS and healing on, but for end game I definitely went with healing. My play style wasn't making her have the DPS for end game, but she can blast through any solo content. Definitely working on leveling all three skill lines for the class and go with what Jairone said for weapons for specific roles. You can start having weapon swapping at L15. My char is a Nord so I went 2 handed on her since Nords have that as a specialty and then restoration staff for the full healing. It helps to wear at least one piece of each type of armor so you can level them, but for the first bit of leveling put your skill points in the primary one you are using. I actually leveled in heavy, but my end game armor is going to wind up being mostly light whenever I figure out my VR16 gear......some day. =)
People will help keep you geared up though in the first 20 levels, unless you stay in noob stuff, the looted things can keep you alive just as good. I usually start playing with set gear in my 20's once I have the character figured out better for weapons and armor choices, magicka/stamina, etc.
I see that you are a GW2 player so know our site. Though if you do get confused by ESO event claiming, just ask. It's way simple since it is all time based now. =)
Addons - we use Minion by ZAM Network, which is much like Curse
What I use
- after my first toon did most of the zones, I bothered with skyshards and lorebooks to see what I missed. I actually did not do bad since I explore everything! I have two add ons for my provisioning. I have an addon that helps with not breaking emotes when I roleplay. I use one with most things off other than a DPS and HPS meter. Others use way more of it than I do. I also use Destinations that shows where things are on the map before you explored, but that is because I've been there before and it helps if I run with a char that hasn't while leading one of my map clearing events. I slowly worked into the ones I use over time and figured out what I liked or did not like.
Yeah, this webiste and the game might seem overwelming at first, but definitely join in the mayhem and ask questions! =)
