I've held back on this for a while, expecting to see an overhaul or at least a mention of it in recent updates, but I understand how something like this can take a back-burner to other tasks on ZOS' plate.
I was surprised to see that Alchemy and Provisioning didn't scale well with levels when compared to other professions. Items in these professions are crafted in 5 level increments vs every 2nd level 1-50, then every VR rank as you see with BS/CW/WW.
As far as a solution, with how Prov and Alch's mats go, I don't see an easy one; armors and weapons are easy, just add more metal/cloth/leather/wood. For Alchemy, herbal materials are used in all levels, the solvent dictates the level of the potion. An increase in the number of solvent types might not be welcomed, and adding 2 solvents as a requirement for a "higher" level potion seems silly from a concentration standpoint. For Provisioning, well....if I double my pancake recipe, I just get more pancakes, not better pancakes; maybe an option to add an ingredient...or maybe generic spices you purchase from a vendor....spicy pancakes, that'll do the trick :P
I perceive this lack of scaling as a reduction in functionality for crafted consumables and I was wondering what others had to say on this matter.
