I recall there was a lot of interest, and disappoint, in this back during release.

The new PvP level minimum has been raised to 50, so now you can level-lock at 49 by not doing the quest, [Co-op] Defeat the Weakened Belmorn!

You'll miss a lot of the content in Mediah and Valencia playing this way, but for those who enjoy life skills and casual mob grinding, it's an option.

Ah, that is good information to know.  I can work all my toons up to 49, then, before I open the account to PVP.  Though I guess that it still won't matter, with all of the level 60's and TRI Awakens, will still get rekt by pretty much any of the PvPers.

It's a shame... the game isn't even a year old yet, and the gear gap is already a far stretch for most of us who took it slow and are behind.

The openworld PVP and griefing is no where near as bad as it was in the begging or as it is in other games imo (thinking of Archeage). Also, the very good thing with BDO is that there is an upper cap for the gear and no elite raid requirements. If you get Tri on your gear you will be competitive... and if you keep playing, even taking it slow then you will get this. Playing consistently you are guaranteed to get the same gear as the PVPers. You will just arrive there a bit later.

They have even introduced a shard system for the world bosses to get your end-game weapons. If you collect 100 shards then you can turn those in and get the weapon.

They have also made the Olivia channels for new and returning players who are not leveled. The channels give you a 200% experience boost so that you can catch up.  Other players who are leveled cannot enter these channels, so you will not be competing with overleveled players at the good grind spots for experience. It is a very good system imo :)

Openworld PvP has been scarce, and is very unpunishing.  You just die and run back from the center of the node in a few seconds and keep grinding.  For most practical purposes, it's mostly a PvE game.

It's not a good game for 5 hours/week, though.  I feel it requires 10 minimum to make rewarding progress.

BDO tempts players to dabble in a little bit of everything, but rewards those who stay consistent and focus on one thing until they achieve their goal.

The average adult NA player only plays 4-8 hours a week.  That's in general, not specific to any particular game.

Now that i am back to playing a bit, this has been super convenient for my Fisher character who has never actually done any leveling by combat beyond the tutorial material.
